Can someone tell me how to set the compatibility modes in Windows XP Professional. I want to set it up so that i can run my Windows 98 SE programs on it, or some Windows 2000 stuff. But I have gotten, incompatibilty messages when trying to install Norton 2001, and it told me that Anti-Virus won't work in XP Pro so i downloaded McAfee instead. But if i set it Win98se mode will it work then? Or am I just going to have buy a new one?

I could not get 2001, or Corporate to work even with the compatability mode on. I went to norton 2002.

Yes, but i'm not sure where the setting to make the compatibliy are. See I'm worried that my scanner won't work in XP Pro but if i have it set to 98se it should. Because all my install diskes are 98se and the company is no longer around so i can't get any upgrades to XP Pro... But I have yet to install the scanner. So i'm jsut checking, anyway.:burn:
What brand of scanner? My Visioneer was not supposed to work with XP but it did. Later they released an XP version of the scanner drivers which I installed.
I think you can install a program with the compatibility but not drivers. And as for Norton 2001 I would forget it. Buy 2002 or another compatible product.
To install with the compatibility "on" right click on the installation file before you install and choose properties and then the tab for compatibility.
After you install check the icon that launches the program the same way. I installed Morpheus with the compatibility for Win98 checked. It seemed OK and then after a few days I checked the Icon when I was having some trouble and it had reverted to no longer showing the Win 98 compatibility that I had originally chosen. I am pretty sure that the Icon listed it on the day of the installation.
Morpheus and Kazaa haven't been rewritten for XP as far as I know.
I also have some scanner trouble. My scanner came with PaperPort 6 and you need PP8 for WinXP. What is really sick is that Visioneer is advertising their new scanners as XP compatible and then shipping PP7 with them. PP7 won't work with XP!! Someone should start a class action lawsuit.

OK, as for your quesion of Morpheus and Kazaa, there has jsut been a new release for them that is XP compatible, check your program, or go to their website. I use Kazaa without any problems, except this wierd error in the script? But I have not installed my scanner yet, i was jsut wondering if i would have to get a new on :( anyway, i'll instal it today, and get back to you on it :p
