hi guys,
i am building a new rig and my eye fell on the 8800gts. now i remember when i bought my 7800gt it was out for 2 years and i got it for 200 euro's 2nd hand but new(rma from someone)
now when i go and look for a 8800gts i see them for the same price 2nd hand, now is this an indication of more pricedrops or is this telling me i should stay away from the 8800gts because it may suck?
i have a budget of around 250 euros($300) for a GFX card and i need it to be good, i looked around for 7900gtx's but they are nowehere to be found even 2nd hand(odd :s)

i bought it :) , even though the card is oem it is a great deal, they go 2nd hand here for around 325 euros so thats around 75 euro's in my pocket. now he only gives the card and the power cable because he got the card from work. anything else i need to buy myself? i have vga on my monitor but i still have a converter left for it.
and what about the powersupply? i was thinking about getting a thermaltake 700 thoughpower modular psu. also i will put in a e4300 in it with 2gb of ocz 2gb gold kit ddr800(or something like that). will i be having a bottleneck? i need to know it before i buy me a cpu and ram

i have the toughpower 650, and i think its an excellent psu, so the modular 700 will be nice :) a 2gb kit is a must (pretty much if you want to game) and if you can get that 4300 to 3ghz and up you are made in the shade

hmm, thats a tough call.. i guess it would depend on the age of the cpu to a point.. but out of those 3, id probably go with a 6400 :)

doesnt really matter.. each clock about the same 3-3.2 for e4300 / e6300 and mabey 3.4 for the 6400.. but then it all depends on if you want to spend money on a board that can do higher fsb's and thus needing better ram.

well i am getting a ds3 board and pc8000 ram so that shouldn't be a problem.
just a fun question, my dad has a old comp(amd 4200+, 512mb dual channel ram, 350 generic psu and a 939 dual-vsta board) will i kill it by putting in a 8800gts :p

lol Definately with a AMD chip, the 8800 Series cards need at least Core 2 Duos to really take advantage of its performance :D.

I'd spend the little bit extra and get the 6420. :)

The E6420 is the same price as the E6400 at Tigerdirect
