Can I use a CPU greater than 1.066 GHz even though my mobo has jumpers supporting up to this? The manual says that "processors greater than 8x has been locked by the manufaturer and will no longer have the flexibility of using extended ratios. Therefore, the system will use the processors factory default setting."

By this, I should be able to use any Socket 370 CPU right? Or a I way out in left field on this??

Thanks for the help,
Dr.

Hi fearless,
generally the Cpu's with bigger multip of the Mobo, works fine, even if not detected properly by the Bios, but in your case, the manufacturer declaration seems to be a sentence of death. The only way possible is to test directly a chip on the Mobo, preferribly of a friend, to see what's happen :)

Some motherboards will auto detect and adjust for larger multipliers that were not originally supported. Other times, you might need to flash the BIOS with an update.
