If you can afford a 7950GT you should just get an 8800GTS 320MB, they are pretty close in price. It will be anywhere from a bit better to a lot better depending upon the game but you would want to have a solid power supply to run it. If you are looking to get a decent card at a low price go for the 7600GT, it just won't perform like either of the others.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130082 No need to get pre-oc'd versions either.

I guess the cheapeast 7950GTs are less expensive than I'd thought.

Does the 7950GT have more memory?

depends... they make 256MB and 512MB versions... all 7600GTs have 256MB

On your topic, there is no comparison between the two... The 7950GT gets nearly double the fps of most games in tomshardware.com vga charts...

Honestly, instead of going out and dropping $200-$240 on a 7950GT, get a $279 8800 GTS 320MB... Your CPU will limit it a little but it would give you DX10 and tons of headroom for future games...

7950GT > 7600GT by far

7600GT=128bit
7950GT=256bit

You're just looking at the clock speeds that are similar, but the 79xx have a bigger memory interface (256 bit) which makes all the difference.

Think of it this way... 2 7600GTs are comparable to 1 7900GT.

Not just the memory interface.. the 7950gt packs twice the shading power.
