Simliar question has been posted but this is a more specific question.
Just upgraded my system to an Asus P5W DH which uses a realtek ALC882M High Def.
At the moment I'm using my old SB audigy 4 pro to drive my old sherwood receiver via the 6-channel output (Not S/PDIF) that supports DD and DTS which in turn runs to my old surround speaks and sub. Replaced all my home cinima kit last year and moved all this to my gaming rig :-).
Given the audigy pro is a good few years old now would I be better off running the amp from the onboard sound ? The specs look at least as good as the audigy, and I can get rid of all those system hogging creative drivers :-)
To be honest hardly ever use the external box for anything apart from the firewire port and it takes up desk space.
