i am planning on buying an e4300 proccessor, now i have a few choices in ram and i've put it down to 2 ram types

1.Crucial DDR2 BallistiX PC8000 2048MB CL5 Kit m/twee identieke BallistiX 128Megx64

and

2.Crucial DDR2 BallistiX PC6400 2048MB CL4 ,Kit w/two BallistiX 1024MB's, E.P.P

there is only a 13 euro difference between those sticks though the frequency is way different, which one of the sticks will give most performance?

I cant say from experience, but everything I read, anything higher the pc6400 is going to be a waste, because the cpu will never get that high.

You can always drop the multi, raise the fsb, and still run the ram past 500fsb

Its upward locked.. downward to 6
so your choices are 6-9

Both sets of ram you selected are overkill, there D9GMH and you won't need but 350FSB or so on the 9 multi to top out that CPU.. now.. if you went with the E6320 those are good choices.

Ok by running the divider 2:3 or 4:5, is that overclocking the ram then I take it, or just the bus? Im all but decided to go with a gigabyte ds3 board, but havent set in stone 6320, or 4300. Im familiar with 5:4 dividers etc on the old P4 boards, and making the ram run slower then the bus, but this is all new to me

well lets say the ddr2-667 ram you have does ddr2-1066. now say your cpu maxes out at 333mhz, using the 4:5 ratio will oc the ram to ddr2-804, with 2:3 the ram would then be running at ddr2-1002. now then with that in mind you bought ram rated for ddr2-667 but you oced it to either ddr2-800 or ddr2-1002.

the ram speed is what i do run in my rig... my 24/7 speed is 3ghz (9x334mhz), with a 2:3 ratio putting my ram at ddr2-1002. my ram however has epp setting for 1066 at the same timings im using now.

in a sense if you just stick with stock fsb of 266mhz you would be ocing the ram unless you bougth higher rated ram. hope i didnt lose you on that, if i did lmk.

so i guess that settles it?

which one should i take though?

Crucial DDR2 BallistiX PC6400 2048MB CL4 ,Kit w/two BallistiX 1024MB's, E.P.P is in stock and for the other one i have to wait 10 days, also someone is offering geil ultra memory(or something like that for 130 euros new in wrapping and stuff.

this one i mean
G.E.I.L GX22GB6400UDC, 2048 MB, DDR2, PC6400, 800 MHz, 2 x

so which one of two should i get?

GEIL or Crucial Ballistix?(both same price)

hmm i just came across something on the net

Team group xtreem dark size DDR2 800 4-4-4-12 2x1gb

now if i can get that for 140-150 i'd be safe for overclocking right? because those sticks can hit 2.6v according to the manufacturer

unless your buying these

or these
http://www.tankguys.biz/product_inf...=1692&osCsid=292d35ab5347829552d8b33d973ff5ed
those are the only team i would suggest to people.

if you want to spend about $150, nab the gskill hk's they dropped on newegg down to $134 for 2gig ddr2-800
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231114
or go with the pk's at $119
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231087

both gskills have oced nicly and about 100mhz lower on the worst sticks compared to d9's. the promos ic's dont put out the heat that d9's do and well promos need looser timings. you can see that from my above post #7.

hmm seems like my budget cant coop with it..bah

call me vague but i am going with

OCZ OCZ2P8001GK, 1024 MB, DDR2, PC6400, 800 MHz, 2 x

they are very cheap where i found them(112 euros) and everywhere else they are 150...i hate it that i cannot use newegg because everyone on the forum suggests me something from the egg

can you not find gskills in the EU or where ever you are at? sorry i forgot you were across the pond...

that place is given you the shaft for ram..damn....at this point then go with what you can afford to still get ddr2-800 ram.

so they all oc well? then i am getting the cheapest,

i am going to construct a list of what i am getting and post it here, you guys tell me if this will work fast

EDIT: does it matter alot if i wont get a dual channel kit but 2 separate sticks(cheaper) and run them dual channel

as long as the sticks are the same, they should be just fine in dual channel.

if you get ddr2-800, it runs at 400mhz. so that means you can run up to 400fsb while keeping the ram at 1:1 and still have the ram in spec. on a e4300, 400fsb = 3.6ghz, aka not likely. even if you lower the multi to 8 and run 400fsb for 3.2ghz (much more likely on an allendale) your ram will still be perfectly in ddr2-800 spec.
