trying to build a system for a guy.

okay heres the deal im trying to build 2 systems for this guy and i went looking around the web today for prices i told him $300 for a working rig no keyboard, speakers or monitor.. well the cheapest i can build one after addind in shipping from all the places is $305 rounding all number up to the next dollar or more.. so im gonna tell him $350 and this is what he will get

32MB S3 video card (not a gamer but cheapest card i could find) $27.00
cheap atx case w/300w psu $35
256mb SDRAM $25
Cd-rom $20
20GB hard drive $73
800mhz Duron $40
Mobo $70
heatsink $20.00

total $290.00

and then i have to make some money on everything so i rounded up to $305 and then labor and what not i figured $350.00 would justify cause i have to beat out his brother in price.. and i plan on doing fsb overclock to 112mhz so the chip runs at 896mhz or 900mhz as i will tell him... and everything will run faster and all those parts are quality not no name stuff... do you think thats a decent price or could i find stuff for cheaper??

I think this price is pretty cool, the 300W will do for a Duron I think, so he'll be ok

Don't forget about the OS. it will cost you $ unless you use linux.

When building systems for people, you should not forget the headaches that go along with it. eg. They install some junk software that messes up the registry and they have a system that you sold him that does not work properly and you have to fix.

oh yes.. good point there abb1 but not to fear Mr. Guy will be signing a piece of paper that says im not responsible for anything that happens to the system after he purchases it whatsoever.. and that when he purchased it, it was within perfect operation.. blah blah blah...... my moms good at that stuff ill ask her to help me with that part
