Maybe the latest Micron D9xxx binning is alot better than before.. similar to Crucial's latest PC2-8500 parts ?

Looks alot like the ICs that the newer PC2-9600 rated modules might have from several manufacturers ? :)

thanks

It's only been less than 24hrs since I had this 2x1GB Super Talent T1000UB1G5 PC8000 memory, so still alot of testing to do.

  • This memory is 2x1GB Super Talent T1000UB1G5 single sticks and not dual channel set. One module doesn't like CAS4 much while the other module is fine with CAS4.
  • Together the 2x1GB Super Talent T1000UB1G5 memory modules don't like CAS4 much needing 2.3v vdimm to hit 510mhz 4-4-4-4 on Asus P5B Deluxe - probably due to the one module holding the pair back.
  • But changing to 5-4-4-4 timings with CAS5, the 2x1GB Super Talent T1000UB1G5 flies - the overclocking headroom behaving almost the same as when i tested 5-5-5-15! I'm guessing one of the 1GB Super Talent T1000UB1G5 modules like CAS5.
Right now memtesting still on Asus P5B Deluxe 1101 bios at 570mhz 5-4-4-4 6-42-10-10-10-10 at 2.29v - haven't tried higher yet :)

I can say these sticks are fast.. I don't think i've seen 5985MB/s memtest bandwidth with just 9x376FSB 2:3 564mhz 5-4-4-4 4-25-4-10-8-10 at 2.38v before.

Running 32M right now it's less than 1.8 seconds behind on each iteration compared with 32M low challenge results of 9x386FSB 2:3 579mhz 4-4-4-4 at http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=77530! This is without any maxmem tweak too!

This 32M run is straight boot from bios

This 32M run is same windows session as above run but tweaked memset 3.2 timings for sub 14min run

All without any maxmem tweak yet :)

Wow, i'm extremely surprised, SuperTalent usually doesn't usually do high end types of memory. They've always seemed to be a value brand to me. To see them pumping out the new Micron D9's is crazy. Congrats on finding these. What price did you get them for off EBay, if you don't mind me asking...

Actually super talent has had this memory out since last year ;)

price was ~US$333 (inclusive of USPS EMS insured shipping to Australia) ... expensive now considering recent price drops but still :D

it seems the handles tight sub timings relatively well for 32M at least but vdimm required for such timings sky rockets

@600Mhz 5-4-4-4 4-25-4-10-7-11 at 2.6v
- straight boot from bios
- no maxmem tweak!

@600Mhz 5-4-4-4 4-24-3-10-6-10 at 2.6v
- memset v3.2 tweaked
- no maxmem tweak!

This sub 3600Mhz Super Pi 32M time is the fastest I've done to date and no maxmem tweak used. Compared to previous fastest with 2GB G.Skill 6400PHU2 HZ D9GMH 629 batch @600Mhz 5-4-4-4 at 2.63v with maxmem tweaked time of 13m 09.968s

4:5 loving with 9x400FSB :)

Jumped over to Asus 680i Striker for a quick whirl with this 2x1GB Super Talent T1000UB1G5 PC8000 Micron D9GKX pair :)

System:

On Asus P5B Deluxe 1101 bios this memory managed 605mhz 5-5-5-15 6-42-10-10-10-11 at 2.35 vdimm. So on Asus 680i Striker Extreme let's set vdimm to 2.35v in bios (Asus PC Probe2 reports 2.40v) and see how this memory does :)

625mhz 5-5-5-15 5-22-6-8-A-7-42 at 2.35v

How's 625mhz 5-5-5-15 5-22-6-8-A-7-42 at 2.35v for dual Super Pi 32M :)

Throw in an Everest Ultimate v4 bandwidth screenie for good measure :D

More to come later :)

Yeah pretty nice...

Seems this memory is optimised for CAS5 as 4-4-4-4 hit a wall at 533mhz on Asus 680i Striker Extreme. It handles tight subtimings very well though.

But CAS5 went all the way up to 639mhz 5-5-5-15 at 2.55v bios, but it can't handle 600mhz 5-3-3-3 tight timings as well as OCZ PC2-8000 Titanium Alpha VX2 (best kit for 5-3-3-3) or G.Skill 6400 HZ D9GMH 629 batch or Team 6400c3.
