Hearing that a computer has an ultra power supply makes me jump almost as much as hearing a railgun fire in q2dm.

Best review ever! That and all the people that mention repeatedly buying these pieces of junk.
Pros: i have no pros. this thing sucks
Cons: The power supply bursted into flame within the first 10 minutes of use. I smelled a horible smell and wooosh, it cought fire and melted the top of my case and fried my cpu. DONT BUY

lol at the rosewill,
i remember getting an ultra psu because i just didnt know they where bad, the 12v line was around 12.7 and i rma'd it, got another one back but that one did the job...still i am afraid of getting ultras, because one day when you are doing your thing behind your computer you might hear a BOOM and that would be your hard earned money blown to smitherines
okay..before i give this back to my buddies cuzin, im going to make sure the lines are good on it, i dont need it to blow up in her face :p

They should have a test for everyone who puts their status as "high" on a newegg review, because some of these reviews just make me wanna cry.
I don't suggest this power supply.
Weren't these being sold for free after rebate a while back?

I wonder if insurance companies even cover homes that use ultra PSU in their computers? A person that uses one might be seen as delibertly trying to burn down there home in a effort for insurance fraud. I have dealt with 2 ultra PSU's in the past, and needless to say neither one lasted more than 4 months(the one burned out in 2 days!)
Poor Ultra...
The youngyear manufactured Ultra X-Connect is what got ultra the bad rap. Youngyear no longer manufactures anything for Ultra. The Ultra V-series should be decent enough. I'm not positive which OEM makes it but Wintech makes most low end ultra products so thats my guess. For perspective on Wintech, basically it's what I would pray for if I bought a Rosewill (since they use so many different OEMs.) Wintech units may not be any better than average but I trust them not to be fire starters.
Thank you d94 for the post, i'm going to go pick one up as a backup right now. If it is a Wintech build than trust me, you could do alot worse when getting a PSU for a low end rig. If someone else makes it I'll let everyone know...
While the Ultra v-series isn't any better than average (and isn't meant for a high performance rig) the Ultra bashing really isn't warranted. Our own resident PSU guru, Oklahoma Wolf, had this to say about Ultra power supplies (http://www.ocforums.com/showthread.php?t=506178)
Ultra has quite a few that don't bite, and several that flat out rock
Just about everything over 600W is Andyson made, though the 750W X-Pro is Seventeam built. Seventeam has a solid reputation, and Andyson's doing their best to match up with the best out there.
My X-Pro 600W is powering a rig it's not supposed to be able to... a 5v nForce2 oriented system. The X-Pro, even with a low 160W combined 3.3v/5v rating, has been flawless so far. I get 3.3v, 5.11v, and 12.21v at load
Of course, it having independant regulation helps a great deal
There are good PSU's under $100... most of them are usually below 500W though. A good high power unit costs a bit.

Yeah really
My computer is a ~$1k investment and it has a PCP&C going into it.
Power supply is one of the top tier of critical foundation components along with the processor, mobo & memory.
Never skimp on the PS.
