It's for a good cause. It's worth it. :D:D:D

I think I send my Windows partition to bit heaven, though. Bye bye, Windows.

I think it all depends on what you do with your computer primarily decides what OS you use. I don't game, but I've read many times how Linux is lacking in the game arena. I have used Ubuntu 64 v6.04, 6.10, 7.04 and now on a E6300 Mephis 64 Linux for SMP folding and I have been impressed. I have burned with k3b, I have played DVD's, after getting the correct codecs, done very limited paper work with Office and just about everything that I did with windose. The only problem for me so far is I copy DVD's using the 1 Click Copy windose program (I know the DVD movie on your HD has to be decrypted first). I've used several other programs and 1 Click is the best IMO and I can't find a compatible program in Linux.(in plain English, one like it) Of course, you can copy home made DVD's with Linux (or decrypt thru windose, reboot and copy with k3b, what a freakin' hassle IMO), but I haven't found a program to copy encrypted DVD's. I know you have to use a decrypter like DVD43, DVD Decrypter or Shrink for decryptation, I just like the simpleness and cheap price of 1 Click (believe me, thru the years I've used several) . Every other program I have used before 1 Click (with Sysoft under it) is a windose only program (ie Shrink, DVD decrypter, etc) Not only IMO does windose have the best DVD copying software I think it also has the best utility software (ie benchmark, cpu temp, etc) I can't, for the life of me, get lm_sensors to work on a AW9D-MAX mobo or a P5B Deluxe mobo :bang head, plus the fact, although improving rapidly IMO, Linux still has too much command line stuff (there goes my geek credentials)
Anyway, this is just my $0.02 cents worth, only the opinions of the author. WTF Team 32

Edit: Before some self righteous individual tells me it's illegal to copy encrypted DVD's (copying with the intent to sell them under the table is) I think anyone with children would like to copy their favorite movies (which to me cost mucho denaro) that have become ruined by overuse (ie scratched, sticky from candy, generally unusable) I've tried the polishing out scratches etc, I've just not had any luck with it.

I like Ubuntu also. I have it installed on my "kitchen" computer, and on my son's computer. I am building a new HTPC and I tried to get MythTV up and running on it but after several days 9and angry family members who could not record their favorite shows!) I have given up and put back on MCE.

Ubuntu is definitely getting easier and easier to install. I just upgraded my kitchen computer with a fresh install of 7.04 and it was quick and painless. The biggest problem seems to be adding second tier programs like MythTV.

self righteous individual here....lol j/k

I polished out a CD that I did not think could possibly be polished out...it was loaded into a drive as the top CD...the child placed 2 cds into the drive at the same time...

No offense intended, but I wasn't talking about a music CD and if the child falls and breaks a DVD they're impossible to glue back together (unless of course you've found a way to do that with this polishing thing too) I still stand on my opinion and besides that, from everything I've read DVD's are much more sensitive than CD's and they contain much more information.

Edit: I even tried to compress a DVD onto a CD, but the video compression was so great the video display was unacceptable
