Hi there, I'm new to overclocking both CPU and GPU. I have a nVidia GeForce fx5500 (AGP 8x) with 256MB RAM. I read some guides here and installed Riva tuner.

Stock specs are the following:

Core Clock: 270 MHz
Memory Clock: 400 MHz

I don't know how should I overclock it. The guides mentioned checking temps, but I can't find an option to check temperatures. If it's unavailable, what can I do with this card? I like gaming.

I saw volt-modding info on this card, by modifying the pwm controller. I'm familiar with soldering, but without temp monitors is it viable? I don't have money to spare on a replacement though.

BTW I'm running AMD Sempron 3000+ Barton @ 2GHz, 1GB RAM DDR400 (at 333 MHz T_T) Dual Channel over a MSI K7N2 Delta2 mobo.

I had that care a year or so ago, and im pretty sure i used coolbits to oc it a bit, and then put an extra 120mm fan in my case to help cool it

Add aftermarket cooling. Helps out alot.

I'm positive with aftermarket cooling. But here where I live they don't ship good ones (Zalman would be in wish list for ages). The only decent brand we get here is Evercool. Any ideas on how should I cool the Video Card? It's getting hot with only 300/400 (stock is 273/400).

You could probably pick up a 6600GT for the amount of money you are goin to spend modding your FX 5500.

oh well that sux. But still, I like to do it because modding will be a hobby for me (for now I just stare and enjoy other ppl mods).
