I have a 7800 GTX 512mb card. It has stock cooler. I believe it's was made by NIVIDIA and was an early REV card sent out for review. I have been reading that you can over clock these cards pretty well. I found ATI TOOL and read that it works great for Nividia cards. The problem I have is that it doesn't seem to read temps correctly once I start the artifact test. The temp will climb to about 62c and then the temps reading drops to -192c and that's all I'll get until I stop the test. Then in about the minute the temp reading will settle back down to 45c (the temp it runs at when idle). Here's a screen shot of ati tool temp reading..

I want to get the best performance out of the card but I'm not sure if ATI Tool will burn it up...

I occasionally get -65° on Atitool for my 7900gtx as well, must be a bug.

I suggest you increase the frequencies till you start to see artifacts... the system will lock up way before the card gets damaged from extra voltage.

I use ati tool to scan for artifacts with my 7800gt but I disabled the Temp monitoring a long time ago Via Bios because I get cold bugged if I dont . (NV cards cold bug for some reason below 35 deg and on water I sit @ 31 deg @ idle .
