Any chance DDR 400 will work in a board that wants DDR2 400?

no ddr and ddr2 are vastly different. ddr2 has many more pins then ddr.

Not to mention the voltage differences also.
In plain terms, no it will NOT work.

Don't.

Even if a RAM module appears to fit, or does actually fit physically in the slot, don't unless you know for sure that your board will support that speed and frequency of module.

I had a mobo ruined by putting DDR 400 when the board only supported DDR 266/200.

ddr2 is keyed differently then ddr, there is no way to make it fit.
