So I played Guild Wars this week a little bit, it's the only MMO I have since I stopped playing WoW due to the fact that I wasn't playing enough to get my $14/mo worth. I was having alot of fun playing GW...but the remembered why I got out of it, hard to find groups to head into the world with. I was just curious if any of you guys are still playing this.

I cant convince myself to go back to GW. Its like trying to get a 30 year old to play in a sandbox with thousands of little kids that were raised by non caring parents. There is more curse words said in one minute than there are people online

I stopped playing soon after I got Nightfall and havent picked it up again since, despite trying.
Getting back into it is a lot of work, because a lot of skills are either worthless or really good thanks to balance changes. So you have to re-learn PVP allover.
Spending 30min downloading updates to get in the game, and then 15min each time to goto another area...is also a turnoff.
Not to totally crap on the game...because I do believe that it was a great success and great alternative to those that don't want to take the WOW leap.

i think i racked up about 1000 hours on gw and realized i was wasting my life. But I hated having to form groups and recently i went back and played but everyone was running around with heroes and wont let you join...so it still sucks. I hear gw2 will be more like wow

gw2 interesting...yeah because I know when guild wars was coming out everyone was excited to play MMO without the $15 a month crap......but while the game was well made the everything instanced didn't draw people in like a WoW or EQ does

i found the guild wars community to be pretty unfriendly. i also didn't like having my own world when i left the common areas... everyone totes that aspect as a plus, but i thought it made the game kinda boring.

Thats because everyone's an expert on skills, they tout their titles and/or rank emote or they brag about what famous guild they've been in or who they know from a famous guild.
Then you have all the missions that "HAVE to be done this way or kick from party" a lot of the time.

I played for a few months. I realized that its not worth playing, since I could never find a party and just ended up using the mercenaries 99% of the time. Thats when I switched to mostly single player games (I play multiplayer BF2 most of the time) because Im tired of little 11 year olds running around screaming, "OMG OMG OMG LOOK AT THIS I PWNED U N00B"

I grinded to lvl 20 (with full black dyed armor, 80 unused black dyes, and an almost max weapon) in presearing then got bored and quit before the first expansion came out. Me and my friends are so bored with most games out today so we are thinking of jumping back in for something to pay from time to time.

I sold the game/account a long time ago, didn't even play nightfall. It was fun for a short period of time and once I completed everything, nothing else to do at all. For people complaining about kids on the game, what did you expect? Practically everyone holds the game in high regard because of no monthly fee. It really isn't a real MMO though so that's why.

i still play on occasion
but it lost its lustre after factions
i never did finish factions and only about halfway through nightfall

Oddly enough, I just bought the game today.
I am up to level 5 and I have no clue what I am doing. That being said, it plays pretty much like diablo 2 with modern graphics.

I played it for about 5 months last year and stopped right before Factions came out. I can't really get back into it after playing WoW. I just have too high/different expectations from MMOs now (I LOVE the customizability of WoW... nothing of my UI is default).

I for one have been playing Guild Wars since it's European release. I have bought all of the expansions and sampled the game play from each one. I remember when Guild Wars was a friendly game, with people eager to help you with quest etc. However now it has become....

There is still one thing which attracts me to Guild Wars: High end Gvg. It is the one aspect in the game which in my opinion is still worth playing for. Guild wars is the only game to my knowledge which incorporated the "fast paced action" of an FPS (quake 3, UT2004) into the MMO category. (I am not saying that this game is a real MMO as there isn't enough PvE content.. but yeah I hope you guys kinda understand what I'm saying)
Guild Wars has lost its initial charm since the release of the two last chapters, that is why I no longer spend any of my time playing it.

Lucked out with only 3 this semester. Knocked 2 out of the way on Monday, and I need a score in the mid 60s to hold my grade in the 3rd final on Friday morning.
I was surprised how many people still are playing the original. Only thing I ever ha a problem with is meeting people to find a guild worth joining and stuff

I played GW from almost release. I got hooked and have more hours than I can count. All of my friends played it to so we always played together. I always did PvE but started getting into HoH and Guild Battles more. Then Factions came, I ate it up, played it about 48 hours straight and beat it. Then I left for a year came back and I am about half way through Nightfall with my new NF char. I must say now the NF came either the population is diminishing or it is spread out to much between contenents although so far every Nightfall mission has been henchable. I also do have WoW and am a subscriber but only have 1 lvl 10 char. I can not get into that game, it feels even more lifeless than GW and it seems I have been playing it alone. Then when I die I need to waist more time to run and revive. All my buddies quit GW for WoW but I cant get into it, so far there is very little story, bad gfx and I am paying for it. I will play gw till I die I guess.
BTW if the OCF GW player base it large enough we can start a Overclocker guild [Cl0k] or somethin because you really need to find a good guild to enjoy the game once you have beaten it.

Hmm I'm thinking about starting playing this. Probably going to buy it later today or tomorrow. Hope it'll be fun because I can't justify paying for WoW anymore because I don't play it enough.

I still play it regularly. The game becomes very enjoyable when you make friends, especially since vent is very popular in GW.

If anyone wants to go on tonight, I am getting together with the guy who got me into it shortly. I don't quite know how stuff works but I am in game as Malpine Walis. If you get this in time, feel free to hiy me up in game however that works.

I just started playing actually.. it fits my needs for non-grinding occasional play well. I'm level 4 or so and still figuring out how the game works. Just tagged the elementalist subjob to my ranger..

There is grinding. You just havent played long enough yet. =)
I just bought the GOTY Edition today @ CircuitCity. It's installing as I type this. I was thinking of dropping my FFXI Monk for this, I'll see how it goes.

Anyone looking at getting into the game, I'd have to recommend one of the expansions. It makes getting to the endgame much easier and faster. The quests/missions give you more experience than the regular game, as well as more money. The missions and stuff in Factions seems to be practically dead, but some of my buddies just got Nightfall that weren't that far into Prophecies (the original) and they absolutely love it and remade most of their guys in Nightfall. They've been flying through it now too
