i have resently used realtek chipset network cards and i have notice that they use a lot of resources and therefore canot reach the spped they are capable of i have therefore decided to get a better i am considering getting a 3com soho but i am running xp and there seems to be no drivers for xp only and only beta drivers for win2k. can someone confirem whether this driver works with winXP

i have also seen for cheaper price a netgear Netgear FA311 what i am looking for is a fast card with low cpu utilization as my realtek canes my computer at the moment when net traffic is high.

people on cnet seem to like it but i have not had any problems with my reatek 100basetx just want to know whether either of these would outperform 3.2Mbytes sec transfer speed that i have achieved using FTP eventhough one end will still have a realtek. I have a 8 port netgear fast ethernet switch and would like any useful sugestions as to what nics would be best for my system.

ps i ahve a tbird1.4Ghz and 460Megs of ram just for your knowledge but the other ends are only pentium2's or worse therefore would it advatageus to install the better cards in the cr@p computers?

3com or Intel make very good networking cards or Linksys for a third. I would go with the 3com and then the Intel if not the intel than the Linksys.

My 0.02.

D-Link had fail so much on me over the past years... :/

They seem to just die or have problems connecting to the network itself after 2-3 months.
