If the person who i am trading my system too would get the money$$ i would be in for 1 =)
The price for me isn't that low, I have subscription to the mailing system but the promo code doesn't work for me. How much is the promo code worth? (it's $15 more for me)

Looks like I need to get it working!
doh, out of stock.
edit: back in stock 5-7-07
I couldn't get the promo code to work for me, even though I was signed up for the newsletter. I decided to purchase it anyway.
I am bumping this thread to show that is back in stock. I hope that this is allowed and hope it doesn't bother anyone (hey, no post count right?)

i'm thinking about it...
would you guys go for these sticks or the crucial pc-8000 tracer for $101.50 + shipping after $40 MIR:
http://www.mwave.com/mwave/viewspec.hmx?scriteria=BA23792
i don't mind rebates @ all...
I dont know. I just got the gskills today. Overnight shipping actually beat my UPS package I ordered last week from newegg, which is expected to arrive in a few hours.

Oh, so you're the guy that still factors in MIRs in your purchase price. :)
They're both using Micron D9GMH chips, so get what's cheaper I say.

This is the super-clocking stuff, yeah. ;)
The instant savings of $22 on these has been increased to $30 so.. with this $15 code you can now get them for ~$110 before shipping
Ballistix are binned way better. Go for the Crucial

Well, one thing is for sure...those PC2-8500 Ballistix that you guys have just gotten are for sure a great batch. They are doing some serious clocks and with great timings, given the speeds they are hitting.
I was ready to get a set then decided that I could just get by with the G.Skills. I know the G.Skills are going to be pretty decent, but to tell you the truth, I've already got buyers remorse for not going for the Ballistix. I did notice that the egg raised the prices on the 8500s by about $20 and dropped the free shipping. At one point (yesterday) they were $138 or so, after the MIR. Dang, I should have jumped all over those.
Those 8000s at mWave for just around $110 with shipping (after MIR) are pretty tempting, too.
Just some great prices on DDR2 at the moment...just about can't go wrong no matter which way you go.

the gskill ram is roumored to be binned lower then the ballistix are but then again these should hit 1000mhz easy. Both will work fine but the ballistix are more proven then this set and most likely have more headroom. If you just want to maintain a 1:1 FSB then either set would do if you want to push the ram to the max with extra cooling etc and really take the time to tweek the speed, volts, and timmings then you should prob go for the more proven ballistix.
plus all the cool kids have ballistix and you want to be cool dont you  ? J/K on this last part.
edit: also this thread is worth a read. (http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=114450) It deals with the differences in D9GMH and D9GKZ. To sum it up mircron also makes D9GKZ chips for ultra high end ram used by companies such as corsair for their dominators. D9GMH usually does better at cl3 where as D9GKZ does better at cl4, however D9GMH seems to respond to voltage increses better and thus can hit faster speeds. The last posts are interesting in that they focus on staticistical invalidity due to a small test population. Basically they argue that any info on this is subject is statistically invalid in that there are not enough data points to prove the Ha which produces a type one or type two error, I cant remember exactly which and they dont talk about type errors. However this doesnt really mater as D9GKZ is very hard to get unless you want to shell out a lot of money for unproven gains.

That is exactly why I got a dose of buyer's remorse...

...has nothing to do with it. :D
