I'm putting together my first new system in quite sometime. I've already purchased a Gigabyte 965 DS3, a 6420 Conroe and a Crucual 2gig Kit. I'm very much out of the loop and would need some ideas on a vid card. I'd like to keep it in the 200-250 dollar range. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

If you add a few bucks to your price range you could get an nvidia 8800gts 320mb card. Otherwise I would probably go for a 1900/1950xt...say like this one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102082

Are 320MB 8800's worth the extra 50-75 bucks. Appreciate it..

They seem to be pretty powerful video cards, but dont take my word for it. There are plenty of benchmarks online. And as far as price goes, this one is $260 after rebate and I'm sure even better deals exist. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130082

The 8800GTS should be worth it, but defenitly check out benchmarks and such, especially compared to the older 512MB cards if you need to run at high resolutions.

Just don't skimp on the GPU and go for a 8600, the 128 bit interface makes them worse then a X1900 or 7900 in most cases.

8800gtsAnother vote for the 8800GTS, I love mine. I've seen some 8800GTS 320mb go for around 200-215.
