View Full Version : Quick question on difference between the old c2d (e6300) and new ones (e6320)?

The main difference is the bigger L2 cache on the e6320s, is there anything else I should know of? I have one of the earlier e6300s from about last august and it maxes out at 3.7ghz (most likely due to FSB limitation), but i only run it at 2.7ghz, not like I need that amount of speed to play UT2k4. Anyways I have the chance of upgrading the system again within a month so I was wondering if the e6320s have extra overclocking potential being a newer revision (usually things get better right?)? Thanks!

It is highly unlikely you'll get 3.7ghz or higher with a new e6320

if your fsb limited like myself get an e6600
Maybe compromise and get the E6420. If you run the E6420 at a modest 400 FSB, that'll give you 3.2 gig and DDR2-800 will run perfectly in spec. If your RAM can handle a little more, then 3.4 gig everyday stable is very doable. O/C potential has not gone up dramatically with the Core 2 Duo yet, so don't buy one if you think it'll do 4 gig or something.
