View Full Version : How to verify XP1600 speed?

I just installed an Epox 8KHA+, Xp1600, and 256mb Crucial PC2100.

I have core set at 1.85v, and vdimm at 3.2v. I haven't touched the multipliers yet.

How can I verify my cpu speed and stability? Is there a program or something?

Thanks,
chad

Welcome to the Forums.

You better take out that URL to your site as this is not allowed in these forums.

Now to your question. DownLoad a copy of WCPUID to check your CPU speed, for the stability tests & other information on your system a good app is Sandra2001Standard Edition. Just do a search for them at google & they are sure to show up.

You can screw the core back down to 1.75v to run that CPU quite happily. Lowering the core voltage will also help lower your core temp. I have an XP1500 running at 1.5GHz with a core voltage of 1.75v. Just by raising the FSB will get you a decent OC on that system. I raised mine from 1.33GHz to 1.5GHz bsimply by increasing the FSB from 133MHz to 150MHz. Like yourself, I haven't unlocked my CPU yet......

WCPUID is excellent for checking your vital statistics.....

I'll download that WCPUID and see what's happening.

Sorry about the link...I never really considered my website advertising:D

How can I check my core temp while in windows and what is the max temp I should be running at?

WCPUID works nicely!

Download MBM5, it's a program for checking the CPU speed, voltage, fan's rotation per minute, and temps

SiSoft Sandra, WCPUID, and MBM5 are all very useful.

Use Sandra's Burn-in Wizard to test stability. Run the CPU & CPU multimedia benmarks 50+ times. Don't get too aggressive overclocking unless you have adequate cooling. The burn-in could fry your hardware. I use MBM5 in the background to monitor temps and such. Run just the memory benchmark to adjust your memory settings in Bios and get the best performance. Then use the burn-in memory benchmark looped about 20 or 30 times to test stability.

Burn - In Test of Sandra works ok but you need to run it a little longer than that just to make sure. Some people let it run overnight but I like to keep an eye on my rig when it's being taxed big time.
