Hi guys,

I'm building a system for my folks back in Israel.

I'm looking to build the following:

AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+(65W)
BIOSTAR TFORCE 550 Socket AM2 NVIDIA nForce 550
PNY 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 667
HITACHI Deskstar T7K250

and Sapphire X1900XT - I've heard this card has big requirements. Can you tell me how much Amp on 12V rail it requires please.

I was looking to get this PSU:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E16817182044

Is this enough?

P.S.
btw do someone has experience with the 1900XT? does it gets too hot with stock fan?

Thank a lot.

Hi and welcome to the forums. :welcome:

Wattage wise that unit should suffice, but build quality wise, I'm not sure. Rosewill seem to employ different OEM's so its hard to say without a UL number. However, many Rosewill units I've seen first hand have been consigned to the junkyard.

I would pick a different company/OEM. Enhance built units are decent, so are Sparkle built units and then you have Seasonic built ones. I would up that budget to say $70 if you want anything decent. Your rig is not going to draw a whole lot of power, but then putting a crap $20 supply in there isn't good either ;)

I own the x1900xtx and have owned an x1800xt 512MB. Both run hot on the crappy stock cooler. It gets super loud too!

Xion is right up there will Rosewill.

430w Antec NeoHE

Seasonic made AFAIK, plenty of power, $80.

There's also the 430w TruePower 2 and 430w Earthwatts, still pretty good quality with enough power, they're both $70.

This (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16817104954) is the cheapest psu I would use in your system. Decent quality, and it'll be fine as long as you dont intend to go beyond a mild oc.

The Bluestorm II is supposed to be o.k. I've had the BS 1 and it didn't regulate very well. I would also look at Sparkle for tight regulation, but remember that they are inefficient and a bit on the loud side.

Thanks guys. I bought the FSP Group 450W.

P.S.

It seems ppl in this forum really like that Enhance PSU :)
I might get it when its time to build my own new rig.
