View Full Version : case LED
Hey guys, i got a quesion here....
i'm in the process of modding my case, and one thing i wanna change is the green and red case LED, which indicate the power and hdd..... i've bought a few LED from hardware store, same size with mine, 3mm, blue and white....but b4 i cut the orginal LEDs from my case, i've tested my new LEDs with 2 AA batteries, but they didn't lit up....do i have some defected new LEDs, or the 2 AA batteries wasn't enough power to lit up the LEDs?
THANKS GUYS...:D

You might have been applying the power backwards.
Apply power to the LED. If it doesn't light, turn the LED around and try again.

Give it a try with a 9 Volt battery. if you cant find a 9 volt just use the one in your smoke detector it never does any thing any way.
thanks guys, i found out that the LED work on 5V, so the 2 AA size wasn't enough....i'm planning to mod my mouse too, haha

I modded my case light about 10 months ago.....It was Red at first...but I got tired of that color so i changed it to blue.... The only thing I could not change was my Power case light...It uses 3 pins and RS did not have led's that had a high Mcd number for me...

Hey ferarri et al, if you want a good selection of LEDs, you might try this place (http://www.hosfelt.com/Leds/led1.htm). Looks like the two people who had something to say on resellerratings.com didn't like them much. I'll be adding my comments to that crazy mix sometime soon. I'm glad I won't be jumping into this for more than US$20 though.
