Well I haven't seen anyone else post these and I came about them while browsing, thought I'd start a thread...

I think the last one is fairly common, its basically a 3x120mm radiator with uv reactive paint (never a good idea, paint usually isnt conductive), but whats the point of the first one? Are you supposed to use that when you want to get a quad core to like 6ghz or something?

wow .... thats alot of radiator, you could cool a necular power plant with that freaking thing, or a presscot alteast! :p
seriuosly wtf 120x9 is insane, i would have to use that as my case side panel, and imagine having 18 panflow's or delta's on that sucker
talk about not being able to sleep

That 120.9 is pointless, having even low CFM fans on it would be loud.
I like that 120.4 though, might be easier to mount on a smaller case than the traditional long 120.4s you could put it on the side panel or something :)

I think the 120.9 is for those that want to use their rigs as a bragging point.
Only thing I wonder, what size pump would you need for the .9, I cant believe that it is not going to impede flow in some dramatic way.
120x9? Thats some serious e-penage. I'm intimidated already.

Two in, two out. I guess for multiple loops.
I like the 120.4 i wonder how much shipping is to the UK.

I wanna get the 120.9 for my HD and ram blocks.

It looks like it may be 3x 120.3 rads...Only 4 ports though.

I thought the same. It looks silly as hell to me still though.

Build a case cube out of it. 1 on top, 1 on bottom, 2 on sides. :) The ultimate overkill in water cooling :)
Actually its looks like just 3x 120.3's stuck together. The connections must be on the other side of the unit.
I'm curious... Is there a point of diminishing returns with a radiator? How can 9x120mm be excessive when people are building quad stage cascade phase-change systems to cool their CPU to below -100°C? Either its more efficent or its not. Loud, yes, but then so is a phase change system.
LOL. that, starting to get a little retarded though.... Although, there we messloads of industrial AC fans you could throw as that thing to keep it quite... but man. . . And here I find a 120.3 to be almost too big....

I could see it being used on maybe a large loop in a server, though not worth it for home use as water can only be cooled so much with normal air.

Easy. You can only get down to ambient temps with water cooling, so if the room is 20c, it doesn't matter how many rads you put in, its not going to get below 20c.

True, but doesn't the size of the radiator depend on the heat load? I can see this being used for an overclocked quad core set up with two 8800's.
im in for 2
that would be the ultimate water cooling rad but do you know what the price on that is?
***edit***
just looked at the link...
$150...
YEP IM IN FOR 2!
now where is dads checkbook?

The cooling capacity would be greater. It could probably handle 2 such rigs.
one rig for each loop if you run both loops...
just dont try to move one and forget about the other or you'll have a water fall!!!

I can see this rad mounted in a custom built case or fitted in the ufo cube. Sick!
hmm. on closer inspection... lm thinking clustered computing... A water cooled rendering farm in a closet... how many kents you think you can do with it?
ares350
05-09-07, 04:54 PM
even with clustered computing, I have 0 doubt you could get a 3 120x3 radiators for less money. it would give you more mounting options. and it would give you redundancy. you could just as easily ducttape 3 radiators together, but why would you want to?
from reading the page, it looks like 2 ins and 2 outs, but no indication that they stay seperate. they may join up internally. I say only 2 and 2 because they say only 4 barbs included.
they also talk about it being for passive cooling, which I suppose is a possible reality... incase you want ambient performance from a passive loop.
The only use for the 9x120mm rad that would make any sense to me is if you were going to cool several computers together through the one rad, as in a server situation maybe or something. For a single rig, that is simply a waste of money.

A bigger rad wont let you get below room temp . once your at room temp @ load a biger rad woont help

if you were making a custom case you could just make it 4" wider and slip the radiator behind motherboard tray with a 250mm fan

Add another row of fan bays for a 120x12 radiator :P (I know that would make it TOO big but still)

likely has 2 barbs on other side (end) of the middle rad.

Someone earlier had posted the possibility of placing the 120.4 radiator in a U2-UFO case (which I am actually ordering :santa: )
How would that be possible?
And...You think they're selling that 120.9 rad for cases only that modded?
Because how in the world would one mount a 120.9 rad in any case?
JeffnWV
05-10-07, 10:24 AM
it's obviously for the custom case enthusiasts...likely targeted towards the hearing impaired.
JDawggS316
05-10-07, 10:27 AM
LOL Well, it definitely is something you don't see ready for any cases I know of on the market...
Not even the 120.4 could sit in a UFO without it being somewhat modded.
Maybe these rad's are a little to premature.
JeffnWV
05-10-07, 10:58 AM
well you could set it up in an open case configuration ...inside the closet... on the otherside of the wall where you have your PC and just run the tubes through an access hole....:D

After looking at the 120.4 radiator a little more, I think it would be cool to have for that mild "over-kill" of my soon-to-be-rig.
Any suggestions on how I could mount this in any of the U2-UFO cases without any modding?

A little? lets just say if your computer ever required one of these, then your in trouble, because its going to burn a hole in the back of your case.

More like you'd need multiple outlets just to plug the system in.

Ya, multiple outlets across multiple circuits (and possibly over multiple power grids :D )

that radiator could cool a hemi V8.
I worry if a PC needs that.
mostly I worry for you, cause your gonna roast in your room.

my prescott makes my room bake and it w/c'ed (but with a bay kit)
ares350
05-10-07, 09:04 PM
yes, but your prescott doesnt require a 120x9 radiator :p
seeing how most of us bake just cooling a single intense PC with a 120x3 at most. now imagine no less than 3x that amount of heat coming from 3+ computers.
ouch.
