I have connected another ATX 300W PSU and its running the 3 80mm fans, that didn't help one bit for my 5V line when I'm overclocked to 1400 @ 1.85Vcore... Why is that happening? the min. 5V was 4.65!!! That's not acceptable in any way!! Do you guy think that connecting the HDD CDROM & FLOPPY would do any good? I don't know what to do...
When I run it @ 1.33 w/ default Vcore like I always do, the 5V line seems to be higher by 0.01!!! I reall need help ASAP!
Help me plz.
Thx ahead

Low quality PSU?

could be the power from the wall. i've lived in a building with underpowered wall circuits. i think dark illusion may also be right. who made your psu?

I highly doubt that it is the power from the wall that is causeing this. You probably have a powersupply with a poor quality regulator or one that is misadjusted. Some power supplies have an adjustment knob on the regulator to bring up the 5V line voltage. Downside is that you will void your warranty if you break the stickers on the outside of the PSU.

I have a chance to get a P-4 400W PSU for about 110$ is it worth it? I really don't know the brand though...
what do u guys think?
I don't know the maker of the main PSU, the second is GYRO 300W

EDIT: Hey guys... I made a mistake in calculating the amount of $$$ the PSU will cost.. its price is 35$ & not 110$! LOL

hey man,

the fans you're talking about run off 12v, not 5v. so when you hook the fans up you're not actually lowering the 5v load on the first PSU.

i'd say you could TRY changing the other stuff around (altho the only thing i THINK might use 5v is the cdrom, someone correct me if i'm wrong).

you might try actually plugging the other PSU into the motherboard, and see if it's 5v line is stronger.

good luck!

That seems kinda steep. Have you tried hooking up more than just 3 fans with the new psu? Just to try and take some more of the load of off the first one?

I only have 3 80mm fans in my case, and the CPU fan is a real quiet 4k RPM 60mm, that runs off the mobo... I had the second PSU Hot glued to the top of my old comp's case, when I took it apart the PSU unglued... I tested it... now I glued it with Silicone, I think the hassle won't worth it...
