yea would it be worth it to get 3 rapters and run them in raid 5 (i think i mean 5
?) or wait for ssd (solid state drives) and hybrid drives.:bang head

those rapter x's just look so cool with those little windows.....

Well let's make sure you know what RAID 5 is first (3 drives). It's basically two drives striped (RAID 0 array) and the third drive is all just parity data that can rebuild the array if one of the two in the RAID 0 fail. The RAID 5 is the same HDD performance as RAID 0, but because of the parity calculation, there is some CPU overhead.

What size Raptors are you going to get, and what are you putting on them (OS/apps/everything, etc.)?

I wouldn't recommend buying a drive because of a little Window. I'd only consider that if the drive sat vertical against a clear side panel, but nvm that.

When are these hybrid drives coming out? I've heard of them for a while, but no specifics.

You'd be better off getting 4 and do a RAID 10. RAID 5 is slow and has no place for Raptors. Really you'd be better off getting 2 raptors on RAID0, then 2 large 7200rpm drives on mirror. Then you could use a program like acronis true image to automatically back up everything off you're raptors. That would be cheaper then 3 raptors on RAID 5, better performance, + you'd have more hard drive space for storage.
