View Full Version : Paying your "tab"...bleh
I don't know why my "tab" key stops working @ random times. Usually after being hunched over the keyboard for a day or so. Why does my "tab" key stop working, it won't work until I reboot.
time to upgrade the ol' keyboard!
Put a fan on it, or think about watercooling.
:D
Do you guys think that's it? Who makes a good keyboard these days? I think USB would be better, any suggestions for a broke mofo?

I had the pleasure of trying out the new logitech wireless keyboard and it is much more comfortable than my MS, but since this keyboard is barely a year old I don't think I'll be replacing it.

i dont think its the keyboard. all you do for it to work again is just to reset?
i dont know what could be causing this but it deosnt seem like your keyboard need to be replaced for me.

Yeah, it's really strange...it stops working, then I reboot the PC and PRESTO!!! It's working again.

try pulling it out and replacing it with a similar sized key, like the caps lock key. then maybe you can fake out your computer. if the tab key (actually the caps lock position) still stops working after a while, you know it's a conspiracy involving the computer, keyboard and monitor.
heh, for real, tho...
try unplugging and replugging your keyboard back in without restarting. when i do this on some computers, the whole thing freezes, tho, so be prepared.

please dont do this next thing, it's a joke.
another way to fix it would be to go to a dos prompt when your tab key isn't working, and type the following:
f [tab] o [tab] r [tab] m [tab] a [tab] t [tab] [space] [tab] c [tab] : [enter]
after this, hit "y" to confirm the formatting of your "tab" key, which the computer thinks is actually your "c" key. the computer will tell you that all the data will be lost, but this is good because it is resetting the data to your keyboard key association table.
