e6300 Max Volt and temps?

Hi,

Im attempting to overclock my e6300 on my asus p5w dh dlx and have a few questions (cooling is a thermalright ultra 120 extreme)

1) what is the safe voltage limit for an e6300? (what is too high?)
2) what is the safe voltage limit for mch on Asus p5w?
3) what is the safe voltage limit for ich on Asus p5w?
4) what is the temp limit for e6300 on load?
5) what is the temp limit for a 8800gtx?

your motherboard will top out well before your cpu will. the motherboard might do 420fsb, which would give you 2940mhz. you should be able to do that with stock volts, or close to it. try and keep temps under 65c full orthos load.

the mobo voltages and gpu temps i can't help with sorry.

im actually at 2940mhz now and having probs getting higher. What can i do (besides getting a different mobo)?

i really don't have any first hand experience with 975 boards, so i don't quite know how they 'behave'.

i would start by maxing out the voltages on the board. those p5w-dh's seem to get very stubborn past 420fsb.

i'm sure someone can offer better advice than me with respect to that mobo, so i'll leave it at that. :)

My mobo tops out at about 400 fsb 2.8ghz and in suummer i rarely get past 390.

Ii am running 370 @ stock voltages except the northbridge which is at 1.60volts atm.

I would advise that you take off the chipset heatsinks covers (them plasticy copper lids) and replace the asus tim with some arctic silver 5, i seen a 10c drop in temps doing this and managed to push past 390-400fsb i have also added a small 40mm akasa fan on too.

As for safe voltages i have had the mobo maxed out on ich etc and have ran the e6300 @ 1.50v with no problems although things got a little toasty for my liking.

Could you post your bios settings for me to compare please?

<Edit> Do you have the p5w dh revision with the 1.80v mch setting? Mine is the one with 1.60v.
