230v ---> 110v

So the water pump that I intend to replace my standard pump with is 230v and has a European plug. But I'm moving back to America where the voltage is 110v.

How would it be possible to power the thing without a stepdown converter?

you would need a small transformer...A/C is a pain in the ***. I would just get a new D/C pump.

I'd second that. Not worth the hassel trying to get a converter or getting a 110V pump sent from America to you.

you run it off your PSU and your PSU switches from 230V to 115V

Also they are in many cases better quality. You just have to be willing to pay a bit more for one.

Just plug the converter into the wall and the pump into the converter. You'd use a step down transformer like this:

If you like your current pump and you can get one of these cheap, it's probably worth it. OTOH, if you'd like less noise or more head, then the move is a good excuse to upgrade.
