Im setting up my mates internet connection next week and im wondering whats the best firewall for him to have. He's no idea about computers so needs one that'll juts do it all for him lol.
Personally i use ZoneAlarm and configure everything myself but no idea about anything else.
Thanks guys for any tips :)
Free ZA is what I use also, along with a router.

SP2 Firewall + behind a router is all the protection you will need IMO. Its already built into the OS, and it works.
Once you are infected, then outgoing notifications are really just telling you that you are hosed. I have no use for outgoing notications... NTM once you are infected, the viri can EASILY disable ANY software firewall... A Hardware router is a must for me.
Whatever works.

I really like the hardware firewall built into my router.

Router + Kaspersky Internet Security is what I use. Kasp is very light on resources, pretty simple to use and has good options for tweaking it to your liking
Edit: I forgot to mention I picked it up OEM for $30 CAD

I agree, but pre vista i also used sygate personal as it is free requires a small footprint and is uber easy to configure and maintain. Now i just use win firewall and i connect to net through next door neighbours"My sister,we share net costs" router. :P
