I have an external hard drive and in the root, i have a few shortcuts that point to exe's in the sub folders. the problem is, when the drive is moved to different systems and gets a different drive letter, the icons change to the generic since the drive letter is different. However, if i click the shortcut, it somehow finds the file, changes the icon, and runs the program. so i don't have a problem.

but it brings up a good point. is there a way to assign a relative path to the shortcut? i know it is possible to use %systemroot% in the run command... i tried %localroot% %localdisk% and a lot of other things but they didn't work.

I wasn't sure if this belonged under storage or os's
