View Full Version : Are MPs really unlocked?
Someone on the Sharky's forums said the MPs are not completely unlocked, that there are no trenches but you still have to use a pencil or something to connect the bridges. Is this correct?
I've seen a couple of OEM MPs at stores and I don't see the trenches, but I don't see the bridges connected either, unless it is done inside the PCB.
I don't know for sure if all mp cpu's come unlocked.
The bridges are under the surface on the pr mp's like on the xp's.
So you would not see the bridges connected on the surface.
No trenches is a good sign it is unlocked.
Yeah, that's what I was thinking too. I don't think it's worth messing with the unlocking thing so I am waiting for the MP 1600s to drop down to below $150, but prices are still hanging up there.
Just as well, waiting on that new Shuttle board with the adjustable voltage to 1.92 and ATA133 RAID. I'm sure to get a good overclock one way or the other.
Gotta do something about my 800 TB on a 100 FSB!
