FYI - this was news to me, but probably not if your finger is on the pulse of all things Xbox. :)
I just realized that the Spring update to the 360 allows you to choose from one of three "Reference Levels". Essentially, VGA doesn't use black levels like component inputs. Using the "Expanded" reference level (versus the "Standard" and "Intermediate") allowed my Westinghouse 37w3 to finally display deep blacks without darkening the entire output. YMMV, but this is a welcome addition. Check out the three settings for reference level if you use VGA; you'll almost certainly want to move away from the "Standard" level.
Also, there is an update for the HD-DVD drive that is applied only when and HD-DVD disc is in the drive. The update gives Dolby DTS support, better HD-DVD support overall, and improved codec support.
