I just got another 256 meg for my P3V4X
this will put me at 768 megs.
I dual boot 98 and 2000
I am fine with 98 not using the extra memory, I just don't want it to crash.
Is there a setting in 98 I should do before I put in the memory stick?
will windows just not use it?
if that is all great.
thank you for your time and have a good day
PS I did search before posting. none of the search results had any answers...

It could cause errors, you can find more info on a workaround here (http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;q253912).

well I just stuck it in and it is running!!!
I played a little UT just to see, nothing major.
My AGP apature size is set to 32 meg.
as I read the pages at microsoft it seemed that
large apature size compounded the problem.
I hope that with 32 meg and 768 meg I will stay under the 800 meg arena limit

played UT for 2 hrs.
no problems!!
I guess with a small agp apature win98 wont crash with 768 meg of ram.
I know that it does not use it but at least it does not crash.
what is win2k memory limit?
I believe the Win2k Pro memory limit is 3 gigs.

I thought it was 2Gb, well I do know Win2K Server can access 4Gb, Win2K Advanced Server 8Gb and Win2K Datacenter can access 64Gb:eek:
Can someone tell us what the limit for Win2K home/pro edition is?

WHY??
does allowing an operating system access more then 512 meg slow it down?
