Llew - Thanks again!
I assume that one needs to unpack them all to the same location?
download the two files and save them in the same location. When you unpack part one it should automagically unpack part2. :) You should then have 1 .exe file to install from ;)

Any body got a link to where we can get the whole file without paying?
2 parts and you can only DL 1......
omg, why even bother?
Ok, I've run some test with games like COH and Lost Planet and I am getting the exact same scores as I did with 8.37.4.3 drivers. Also it reads Cat 07.4 and not 07.5. I think it's safe to say, "stick with 8.37.4.2 until an official Cat 7.5 is released for the HD 2900 XT". Also there is fog issue with HL2, HL2: LC, DOD:S and CS:S.

Yeah, I noticed that to. For some reason CCC keeps your settings from one driver update to another. I can't seem to find the file that's doing that when I use Driver cleaner and the uninstaller.

No for me it was the ATI GPU OC tool that did it for me. Since it was messing up on me and not resetting the GPU OC.
I see...
I notice that I get a big bump in performance in Company of Heroes using 8.37.4.2 vs any other version:
73 FPS vs 50 FPS.
The only thing I notice is that with 8.37.4.2 you are able to gray out everything in Anti Aliasing (including Filter section) when you check "use application settings". While all over driver versions it grays out everything but the filter section. Is that the source of the frame rate difference? Could AA still be active in some fashion or conflicting?

I believe I read something somewhere that the 8.370.4.2 drivers disabled AA. Your numbers sure
look like that is the case. Could be why the .2's were never officially released.

That's good news ECH. I wonder when the "official" drivers are coming out?
ATI released a new version of these drivers today (may22).. RC7. Anyone want me to post them?

Yeah, I read the same thing but IQ looks the same with other versions so I don't believe AA is disabled even though it's enabled. This card (unlike x1900, x1800 and x850) appears to be heavily dependant on driver optimizations. I also notice a big improvement on IQ when Adaptive AA is set to quality on the HD 2900 XT vs x1900xt were adaptive AA was more subtle in games. IMO Adaptive AA set to quality from CCC equals the same IQ as AA in game (using Lost Planet as an example) set greater or equal to 4x (I forget how I had it setup using x1900xtx).
Here is what I am talking about when Anti Aliasing is set to "Use application settings" with 8.47.2 with everything grayed out.
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a154/eastcoasthandle/HD2900/CCC_8_47_2PT3.png
In other driver versions everything in AA is grayed out except for Filter. To me this creates a conflict between Application AA and CCC AA when Filter tint is not disabled. This could be the reason for the slower frame rates IMO. I didn't take a SS with the other CCC to show you but I believe my explanation should explain what I am talking about.
link to vista drivers is posted in the Vista thread that I made the other day. I will post todays release of the XP drivers shortly, but again it will be a rapidshare link. Sorry folks.

Im using RC2, not that RC7 crap.
This is going to suck if RC7 is the last build before release. My understanding of it has something to do with the UVD not implemented with the HD 2900's. Also there is no HD/BR video optimization with any of these released yet (from what I read, not sure if it's true or not). I just don't understand how none of these video cards have UVD yet, they say so on the box. Go ahead, check your box, it should read UVD.
Anyway I getting OT, my understanding is that this driver release is more about optimizing video performance (reducing cpu usage) moreso then anything. I have to test this but I don't have HD yet only DVD.

If ATI is targeting getting it's HD performance up in the new drivers it is barking up the wrong tree. For
every person that will be using the card for HD there will be 1,000 bitching about the gaming, DX10 and
AA performance. Talk about the cart before the damn horse lol.

I hope that is not the case but from the looks of RC7 lack of performance it very well might be true after all. Only time will tell at this point.
In contrast, AMD's dedicated Universal Video Decoder (UVD), present on both HD 2600 and 2400 series, does the whole job, internally, on a dedicated processor, leaving the CPU and GPU to do other wonderful things. As we cannot publish results for Radeon HD 2600 and HD 2400 cards, we cannot confirm this, but watching a frenetic 1080p demo run off a HD 2600 card, CPU utilisation hovered at around 15 per cent.
The Radeon HD 2900 XT being the GPU powerhouse that AMD thinks it is, video decoding is handled by the voluminous shaders.
Source (http://www.hexus.net/content/item.php?item=8687&page=4)
I wonder if this new cat will address the "voluminous shaders" (not sure what that is).
Edit: I tried it with V and didn't see cpu usage spike above 12% using 8.37.4.2 drivers
I don't see a problem with high CPU usage using DVDs. Not sure about HD/BR yet.
