God of War is a welcome announcement and GT mobile would have been nice :sigh: I am in need of a new kick butt RPG for on the go.
Is there anything interesting on the way?
ps I am currently playing FFVII and have tapped a lot of the old school stuff, just wondering about newly developed games.

I haven't heard of anything honestly. Odd for a company that has built a solid following based on this genre alone. I know of a recent game titled Innocent Life, but I haven't seen anything more than average reviews. Outside of RPGs, I think the new Star Wars game looks interesting for the PSP.
IIRC, the DS has another Final Fantasy coming out. Outside of that, you'll have to look toward the big consoles [360 has Blue Dragon, Eternal Sonata, and Lost Odyssey, Too Human, and Mass Effect this year; I think PS3's heavy hitters are in 2008].

Blue Dragon and Mass Effect
I'm pretty excited about those two. The others look good as well.
I read a Play magazine review of the Japanesse Blue Dragon release and they said its pretty much on par with the FF games with some nice new additions. They also said the talent MS paid for shows, but the difficulty is too easy and one of the reviewers thought it wasn't innovative enough. Both agreed the difficulty can be tweaked for its US release and thought it was a very, very good Japanesse RPG.

The Japaenese typically enjoy games that are easier than we see in America. Often times difficulties are ramped up before they hit our shores. I'd expect the same with Blue Dragon.

Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core (not quite an RPG)
Final Fantasy Tactics: The Lion War

I'll have to take a look at the Tactics game. Haven't heard about it yet.

You haven't heard of FFT? The PSP game is a remake of the PS1 original.

I meant I haven't heard of the PSP FF:T.
A remake, heh.
That stinks.
