I thought of taking like a review of most used cards and ones that show up on this forum and making like "Software Packs" for them. The packs would include the following :

1. Overclocking Tools.
2. Tweaking Tools.
3. Set of best and popular drivers.
4. Some extra stuff like wallpapers refering to the card or brand, maybe even desktop themes.
5. More tools of any sort.
6. Guides for begining or ultimate tweaking to the card.
7. And guides to tweaking Windows or other OS's.

Please comment on this idea and give sugestions, cons and pros.
Please do not flame. I will be making packs for Nvida,ATI, and 3dfx. Maybe more if the packs get a bit popular.

Ah ok good, now I will start with the cards that I know and then move on to others, I will look around for the most popular used drivers, Where is a good place to get nvida drivers?

Edit..also I will be getting front page 2000 back and Im going to have them located at http://www.geocities.com/angryslair/
There will be a specific section for them.

When i need nvidia drivers i stop by:

www.m3dzone.com
www.reactorcritical.com
www.nvidia.com

I prefer m3dzone because they have amazingly high bandwith....

for tweakers i suggest

NVMAX
RivaTuner
Powerstrip

hehe. its a good idea but u still dont know the most important thing angry! for a bunch of ppl only some links for all you said the pack will have is already good enough.
just one thing i thought, those kind of programs r updated very often, i dont think id get such pack. for ppl that like updated stuff its not quite a good deal in my opinion. anyway the target seem to be ppl who r not into the tweaking stuff, right? because the guides and stuff like them.
everyone here thought its good so i think u should try it out.
good luck.

btw reactorcritical.com and guru3d.com r good sites to get the drivers, guru3d has them for any card i guess.

A review on available Video card heatsinks is needed as well.

Like comparisons for the Crystal orb vs IU type heasinks etc etc and how you attach them is asked often.

Make it a complete package and maybe ask to have it made Sticky.

Well I thought like making these packs for beginers, but then there are people who like me have had a specific type of card for awhile, Then I get this new card and no nothing about how to tweak it and which are the best drivers, the packs could be like a starting point.
And like i said packs will be based on cards showing up in the forums, from TNT's to GF3's from Rage 128's to Radeon 8500..though doing this of course will take awhile so...havent decided fully on which to start with...

That is a great idea. I'd actually pay $5 for a CD Rom that has all the drivers (both the latest and all the previous versions--with descriptions of what each new version fixed) and utilities (and patches). I don't know why the stupid people at these manufacturers' web sites can't do this on their own, but rather rely on each individual to search for all this stuff on their own. I can understand 3Dfx owners' dilemma (I own an old Voodoo Banshee card) of trying to find good drivers for all the latest O/S's since 3Dfx died, but even nVidia and ATI don't have easily searchable pages to get the stuff you need. And what if you don't have an internet connection (because your video card driver trashed your rig)? You would have to find someone else with a working computer or have another disk with a copy in hand.

If I were selling peripherals (not just video cards, but EVERYTHING including printers and CD-RW's and anything else that requires a driver), I would have a page directly accessible from my products' home page for drivers and firmware updates. I'd list all updates (including older ones) describing product, OS, and why each revision was being released (fix bugs, enhance performance, add features). I'd also post beta drivers (with disclaimers in large print, of course) for those willing to take the risk to have the latest and greatest. And I certainly wouldn't force my customers to go to some OTHER website to find or download what they need. As it is, we customers are on our own to compile resources like the one Angry is considering.

It's tough to keep the drivers and applications current. In the download site (I'm involved in) in my signature below, we have an upload feature that allows for updates and apps to come to us, which saves every one (especially the administrators ;) ) time searching and updating.

The idea is good, but in a month's time it will become outdated unless you're willing to continuously and religiously monitor all these companies for updates, etc...

Hehe..I have more than enough time on my hands do keep the packs updated, Even with school and everything else people still say I spend to much time online, My school has a T1 connection and my history teacher ( one with nothing but macs) said I might be able to download most of my stuff there after school or something and burn them to CD-R or even DVD-R as long as I keep up with my VR project of the school ( which is coming along nicely) and bring my own burnable media. So not only can I leave home and have my pc d/ling drivers and stuff I can do it at school as well. :D That is if the macs dont mess the files up, but im thinking it shouldnt matter as long as I make a Data Cd rom...
Works with MP3's I know that much..Now the packs may not have ALL the drivers but they will have one that have been known to work often. I want to have the packs include everything (mostly) but dont want them to be a large download. I will setup something to describe whats in each pack to give the downloader options of diff packs, but will have to get the packs started first...
