well im getting my free copy of vista (not upgrade full install)... was hoping for ultimate but its gonna be Premium instead..

so here's my question..

http://www.helpwithwindows.com/WindowsVista/vista-which-version.html

according to that, which i hope is up to date.... Premium has everything i need..

but when i move down to remote desktop, when it means client, that means i can log ONTO computers but not have computer log onto me right?

i dont need IIS, Offline Files, Join Domain, Bitlocker, EFS so the rest im not worried about..

but doesn premium have all the pc gaming options ultimate does?

You are correct on the remote desktop. Either home edition is supposed to only serve as the client, meaning you can log onto another computer remotely from it, but you can't log in remotely to it. However, I have a friend that logs in remotely to his Home Premium machine from work so he can record shows, so it can be enabled easily.

As far as pc gaming, there is no difference between home basic, home premium and ultimate. Thats why I went with basic for my gaming rig. I didn't need or want any of the fancy features (Aero, media center, etc.), I just use to to game.
