oopss, i forgot to tell you, "before MIR" Lolz, sorry its my fault...
[Crucial Ballistix DDR2-1066, i wish i could]
Then go with the G.Skill. They also have the D9GMH ICs which is what you want with an E6400.

Well i just sold my DS3 because it wouldnt clock well with my OCZ Gold PC2 8800 DDR2 1100 XTC with D9GMH.But my Geils worked like a charm in my DS3
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820144062
But those HZ's seem to work well in the DS3 also. My Geils will do 1020 mhz at 4-4-4-12 with 2.2v /and top out at 1080 with 5-6-6-15. and 2.3v.but for $114 i think id give the HZ's a shot heck its only $20 right

i got my g.skill this morning,. can't post higher to 3.0Ghz 8x375
wont boot higher than that, but it boot up in 6x430=2.58Ghz
what do you think is the proper settings in bios?
any idea guys? and the voltage is too much high. im in 1.49 in bios and 1.40 in cpuz

On my DS3 i had to set it to 1.375v for the cpu in the bios and +2 on MCH and FSB.Try seting to ram to 2.1v 4-4-4-12 with x2 divider. Also set pci-e to 101mhz and make sure the option for the memory performance (normal fast and turbo) is on normal. My E6400 was 100% stable at those settings.

here is my settings in bios, RAM is in auto in 4-4-4-12, 1:1
my first 1 stik corsair boot up in 3.2Ghz 1.45, and i thought when i got my G.skill i can post over 3.2Ghz

OK hit Ctrl+F1 this will open up memory timings. Also try setting memory voltage to +4 thats 2.2v.That might help. Some ram wont do DDR2 800 with 4-4-4-12 at 2.1v
What are your timings ?

Mine hits 3.2 with ram at a 1:1 (2.00 in ds3 bios) with ram @ +0.3v(not necessarilly applicable to you) and others at +0.1v. CPU is set a 1.375v. I also have a rev.2 board. I did notice a definite fsb 'hole' at 380ish up to 400. Above or below that, Im great.

i dont know mine wont boot that low voltage,
btw, what bios usually using for ds3? im using F10? im currently running 400x8 3.2Ghz 1.49V in bios, ram (2x1gb g.skill) 1:1 +.3V (stock voltage 2.0-2.1) @4-4-4-12, pci-e 102 +.2V, mch +.3V.
so far this is my highest post. i'm hoping/assuming that i could post higher.

Hmm you have the SL9T9 E6400 awith L2 stepping .These dont OC as well as the B2 stepping E6400's.Mine pretty much hit a wall after 400x8.I needed like 1.55v(1.6v in bios) to hit 3.5ghz(7x500) but it wasnt stable.I could run most bench marks but it would crash in games and temps were in the high 60's and low 70's..I usally ran with the same settings as CrazyIrish.Vcore was 1.375v and ram was 1:1 with 2.1v and the MCH and FSb were set to +2
So what did you do to get it to boot at 400X8?

oh darn, mybe bcuz i bought my e6400 as oem not a retail. shwwee...
i'm in 1.49v @ 400x8. i run the orthos for half an hour, the problem, when i move the mouse its freezing up and blue screen and the system restart with the same 3.2ghz speed, it does it means shortage of volts?? what is the maximum vcore i can use for this kind of e6400?? i still want to try the 3.4Ghz if possilbe.
one more thing, i tried to test my Ram in bios by running 6x4++, it stuck in 6x430. it means my ram can not run above 860? (if so, i'm disapointed)

I wouldnt go any higher on the cpu voltage unless that processor is getting wet. In fact your volts are pretty high all around. Which G.Skill ram are you using?
That's a p965 chipset right? Try 401 fsb. That's where the chipset timings loosen up I think. 1.4 nb voltage should do it. I don't know how your cpu clocks but mine does 3208mhz at 1.365. Might not even need that much.

I doubt your stuck at 860mhz with G Skill HZ's.Its possible but not likely.Frist set voltage to atleast +.4 in the bios and timings to 4-4-4-12 or even 5-4-4-12.DDR2 .With these settings 1000 mhz or better should be no problem .

i tried to set my ram to 4-4-4-12 +.4v, 480x8 in 1.5v or even 1.525 but it didnt work either.
i will try the 5-4-4-12
edit: 5-4-4-12, it didnt work,.. :(, well, i think im gonna sell my ds3, i will replace it with asus, any idea which asus model around $120-130 that will fit my budget?
it doesn't matter if its an open box.

You have to have a floppy or is it the CD version?Well what ever just unzip the files to a bootable floppy or CD/DVD and set that drive to be the frist to boot. Then put the Disk in the drive and restart your PC and the test will start on its own. Then you can use the f keys to configure the test if you wanna run a certain type. You"ll see it's easy

I'm counting the minutes till they arrive. Anyone know how easy it is to pop off the heatspreaders on g.skill ram?
gigabit
06-10-07, 11:57 AM
Dont do it. Its not worth it.The new h/s speader are not clipped on they have a very sticky thermal strip which will pull the chips right off the modules.Im sure they are still D9.

Create a cd image with nero and boot with it Make sure it's the cd version of memtest.

@Brando thnks for reminding,.:cool:
i don't have any luck with my p5n-e sli, darn, its always turning in blue screen everytime i change the bios settings, even in stock setting, even the first time installing the driver and software, that's why i returned it in the store (fry's) and change it to ds3 again for the second time:p ["i got headache with p5n-e sli"]
but now, i got the revision 1., and i'm stable in 3.2 with my G.skill HZ, i think my past ds3 rev2 holding me back b'cuz of the revision?
@crzyirish, how's your HZ?

Just popped em in a few minutes ago. Right now they are running 4-4-3-5 at 2.2v and 402mhz (ddr2-804) without a complaint. A few moments ago they were at 4-4-4-12 and 503mhz (ddr2-1005) but its kinda hot in my apartment so i thought I would tone it down a bit.
(edit) Bested my previous best 3dmark06 score by 267 points. Not too shabby.

Actually, no. I'm an idiot. I also bumped up clocks on my gtx yesterday and forgot about it. I was kinda thinkin that was a bit too much of a boost just for ram. Oh well.
