Everytime i install my waterblock ontop of my cpu the computer won't start... but when i take it off and put the hsf it starts right up, any suggestions?

What kind of motherboard have ya got? Abit boards need a fan plugged into header #1 or they shut off in 10 seconds. The option can be turned off in bios.

First guess, tell me more about the setup.



Second guess, Are you using metal bolts in the four holes? Make sure the bolts aren't grounding resistors together by using plastic washers.
Metal shim grounding?

well i figured out the problem... i chipped the core a long time ago but she still worked.... well not anymore... i chipped it even better and well thats it, shes done.... so now im stuck at a pentium 500....sigh.... well i might as well make the best of things, im gonna make a keychain... how can i get me a hole in that thing?

After cutting/filing off all the pins, I made a loop out of 12ga. copper wire and soldered it to the pads where the pins were.
Nice 386 keychain.

Processors are mostly ceramic, use a masonary drill bit.
