View Full Version : Is it possible to OC a ti200 past 220/500?

I have maxed my vid card out and would like to push it further. Is there any way to do this?

Yup with better cooling 4NS mem (on Ti200's) is rated @ 500 MHZ anyway so your not really oc'ing it much.

I would try for higher. (Better cooling and GOOD air flow through the case!)

it is jus luck of the card, and a cooling issue. fastest i have seen is 230/555. Needless to say that is a smoking card.

If you mean using CoolBits maxes out the options at 220/500, I would suggest using a 3rd party OC tool, like powerstrip. I have an MSI Ti200 and it comes with a overclock software that lets me do as high as 300/600. I currently run my Ti200 at 225/515.

yes, u can go higher in coolbits. run regedit and in the nvidia registry copy the "Krusty" value and paste it to "Bart".

Well with my stock cooling on my pny ti200 my ram is at 510. My gpu is at 240 but i added a copper 1u heatsink to it. As soon as i get some copper ram sinks i should be able to goto 530.

Ok, I'm searching for that powerstrip now. If you are around before I post again please let me know where to find it. Cooling is no problem, I have sub-zero air being pushed by an array of in-line fans directly onto my heatsinks. Its a nice setup actually, since the air in the insulated case is roughly the same temp as the system components there is no condensation. Copper sinks on the vid card is a good idea though. I'll be picking up a new board and cpu sink tomorrow so I'll just get a few extra sinks. I'll bet ten to one that with new sinks and an OC tool I can get it to or near to 300/600. Thanks people :)

I'm downloading it now. I'll post in a lil while with my pre-copper numbers.

After loading Powerstrip I was able to achieve stable core/memory frequencies of 271/583 with all graffix accelerations and settings at maximum (32bit color, 8x filtering, etc). My system is cooled by outside air in the winter and a passive freon cooling setup is in the works for the spring. I am certain that with cooler outdoor weather, copper sinks, and maybe turning off a few graffix accelerations I will be able to achieve the maximum 300/600 allowed by Powerstrip. In a few weeks on a cold night I will try this, take screen shots for documentation, and post my results here. Tomorrow I will be purchasing my new overclockable mobo (kr7a) and sinks so when I reach the 300/600 mark I will run benchmarks and add those figures to my post. Thank you all for your help :)

Really?

Thats an awesome oc for that card! Run 3D Mark 2001 and tell us what you get!

Press Print Screen and paste into Paint to show proof of this oc!!!! Thats faster than a Ti500!

Well Done! Pics of the cooling system maybe?

I've got a Visiontek GF3 Ti200, bought at Best Buy's Thanksgiving sale.... for $99!

It is overclocked to 255/555 and runs perfectly... no anomalies, no glitches, no artifacts.

I have replaced the wimpy stock fan with a 50mm Top-Motor 19 CFM fan for better cooling, but the board reached these numbers with the stock cooling installed...

My board has the manufacture date of 4401 (44th week of 2001).

I hear that the Ti200's built after 4301 are the best overclockers, prior to that they topped out around 220/460. My board has 4 ns ram on it. I looked!

At these speeds I'm terribly worried about my brand new vid card so I will only crank it up that high one more time to get a documented 300/600, twice if I dont reach the mark the next time. It's warm today so I am still going to wait for a cold night. In the meantime I'll put together some pictures of the cooling apparatus and include them in the next post with the new frequencies and benchmarks. The OC'd speeds of the vid card reinforce my belief that with the new mobo I will be able to take my cpu to a new plateau. Seems the next post will be quite the full-length article :)

What exactly is the point?

Not to be contrary, but what difference does it make if you can overclock your video card to some insane speed, but only for the length of time it takes to get a screenshot, and only then if there is a blizzard outside?

If this was a stable OC, then I would be impressed, but just OCing for the sake of itself seems to be a bit redundant.

Of course, if you have fun doing it, that is enough of a reason by itself.

Maybe it is stable but he doesn't want to do it often for the risk of screwing up his vid card.

I hear where your coming from berk. It is indeed very stable at those frequencies and Nick is correct about my concerns over the card. However as far as the outdoor temp is concerned, that's just for the beginning of this season. When it warms up in the spring the freon-based system i am working on will be installed and probably kept indefinately from that point on. The condenser will be cooled by outside air so it may work even better in the winter but since my PC was just assembled and it will take time to create and test the new cooling apparatus I am just using air cooling for now. Also, I would like to know what the top speed of the card is so I can turn it down somewhat from that point and run worry-free at that lower setting. I must admit to the appeal of getting incredible numbers on a system I built as well.

Run three continuous loops of 3dmark 2001 under your normal temps. If it crashes then it aint stable. I could have the thing at any speed but it would crash upon some actual gaming. Your oc means nothing if aint stable.

Yeah that is true ,I can oc my card to pretty much anything and it will be stable in everything but a heavy 3d app,I can play all my games at higher OC's then I can run 3d mark in though, kinda odd ,3d mark takes it toll.

The only reason you would want to overclock your geforce 3 anyways is to get a better 3dmark2001 score. Your not gooing to get any actualy improvements on any of todays game no matter waht speed your geforce 3 is at. The only reason i can see someone getting a high oc thats not stable to run a 3dmark score is to brag here about it and as we all know bragging without scores or leigtimate proof gets yourself chewed out.

Alex99 i have the same card. Are you using stock cooling with the MSI? i wanna know what i can get it up to. My system temp is at 30C. i never overclocked before and i dont wanna burn anything.

Lynch, I was using stock cooling and got it to 225/515. Then I took out the stock fan and put in a AMD fan from an AMD heatsink. It's not much better then the MSI stock fan, but it does push out more air. It didn't really help. I tried 230/515, it froze after a while. I tried 225/520, it froze after a while also. So I just put the stock fan back on and run at 220/515. I didn't want to run at 225/515, cuz I want it to be totally stable. If you want to overclock your MSI card. I would suggest installing the MSI 3D Turbo 2001 software that came with your card and try something conservative first, like 190/440, then incrementally bump it up until it becomes unstable. At the speed that you think it's unstable, back down a few more notches, and that's should be your stable speed. Once you find this "stable" speed. Run tests on it like crazy to make sure it's stable.
