I've been using CDRWIN for years now and never made a bad burn. NERO I've tried a while back which lots of people still using and never heard anything bad about it.

i use nero for most my burning needs, i used to use another burning utility that was specifically just for audio compilations but dropped it and just use nero now for just about everything.
maybe its just me but should this not be in software and operating systems section? whatever,

NERO is the only way to go...
I use Nero gets the job done most of the time. I just can't figure out how to burn Mandrake 8.1 to CD can anyone help me with this someone who has done it before and it worked?
Oh and this really should be in Software and OS

Along these same lines, what would be good software to use if I want to install my OS, apply all drivers and patches, and then burn an image of it, so that next time I do a reformat, all I have to do is restore the CD?
I've looked at, I believe, Drive Image, but I'm hoping that there is a cheaper, or free utility that will create and burn the image? The software I saw, whatever it was called, was like, $70. Not about to spend that much! Heh.
Thanks!
Nero is ok, but it's slow... I prefer WinOnCD whenever it supports what I want to do

To the person who was askin about burnin iso's in Nero....rename the extension to .nrg, double-click it, and it runs automatically, and does it just right!(yes, I know this sounds weird, but it works). To the linux-poster, thx fer the advice, I'm a linux-newbie:D
Nero works great, I've even made copies of my **edited** disk, for backup, no probs. It is slow, I have an older cd-rw(salvaged from an h-p pavilion), and it'll only do a 4x burn:( , but it does work, and it's easy to use:)

I just finished burning the full 3-cd set. When Nero starts, exit from the wizard. Go to File>BurnImage>(change to "all files *.*") Browse to .ISO file of Mandrake and click to open. Set Type of image to Data mode 1, 2048 block, 0 and 0, and uncheck the boxes. Click OK and you are golden.

Nero or Adaptec 5 or higher
I use Nero for If I'm compiling my own cd. And Cloned CD to copy disks. That's all I need. Works great!

Why the edit? I bought the damned thing, I can make backups. If it's gettin to the point that you don't own property that you've paid for, maybe we need a damned revolution.
roxio winoncd is not very good - i don't like it.
I use Easy CD 5 (even though it decides that it doesn't like me sometimes) and I use CloneCD for the harder to back up discs (I do back up software that I purchase. That way if I go to a LAN, nobody punks the actual game discs.) Thing about CloneCD is, that you have to have a burner that supports it.
I like Easy CD Creator or I hear Nero is pretty good. Two main ones..

I've been using Nero 5.5 since I got my new comp and I've burned about 30 cds already and I've never had a bad burn.

I'll said NERO 5.5
I have use nero 5.0 and is very good.
I recently purchase a SONY CDRW and it come with sh**ty B's rocorder gold.
It show how much sector you use or need, and who in the world would try to conver sector to byte.
when I burn music using that B's program it doesn't even show time. It show a circle of pie. Hate it.
Nero show you time if you buring music and also show you byte.

I don't know about Nero or the others. I had to start using an HP proprietary burning program because when Roxio spun off from Adaptec they stopped supporting newer models, to force people to buy ECDC 5.
I also liked the stuff that came bundled with my Plextor 2410, made by Plextor.
I bought ECDC 5 because I upgraded to Windows XP. It works, but it is a lot slower than Plextor because it dicks around with stuff other than just burning to disc. I have found that its tech support is poor ( not just access to real people, but the FAQs and downloads). Generally, I'm disappointed with Roxio, and wish Plextor would upgrade their bundled stuff to run under XP.
P.S. I didn;t find any posts about this under OS and other software, so I think this thread is appropriate.

if you want to make "backups" use clonecd, otherwise use Nero.
Easy cd creator is total crap.
