Can I get by with reusing my PC Power and Cooling 510 ATX with my new X2 3600 system? I plan on running 4-5 hard drives... It runs my i865 3.0GHz P4 and 4 drives fine. I don't plan on doing any major video cards, not even SLi, just 550 Nvidia chipset.

+5V @ 40A
+12V @ 34A/38A
-5V @ 0.3A
-12V @ 2A
+3.3V @ 30A
+5VSB @ 3A
continuous power = 510W
peak power =650W

It was a beast in it's day, and I hate to spend a fortune on a new PSU if it will work fine.

I've had 2 outages in the past month, just out of the blue, everything shut off, and I worry it's the PSU, but I'm having other USB troubles... running full load isn't usually a problem, but we've had some power outages lately, wondering if that might be it. It over powered my UPS recently, so I've had it directly connected to the outlet recently.

Thanks!

It should work fine. When you say you had two outages do you mean just the computer shut down or you lost power to your entire house? If you computer just randomly shut down you have a problem that may be PSU related.

Time to get yourself a new higher capacity UPS?

The computer just shut off out of the blue, house didn't appear to have any problems, and the monitors (2 big CRTs) stayed on... I just started doing folding again, so that might be a stress point...

I replaced the batteries on my 1200vA UPS and I don't think they have enough gumption as the original, or somethnig like that, now I'm scared to plug my stuff into it. But I need to or the batteries will discharge and be dead.

That 1200VA should handle all you have without a problem, it's about 750 watts. If you want to check it, plug your CRTs in the surge side and save those watts and see what happens. Your power supply should handle what you have easily.
