I took off my BFG stock cooler the other day and applied Artic Silver Ceramic and noticed that after the application my RAM overclock was artifacting. Got some new paste today and took off the cooler again to re-apply, not one of my RAM chips had made contact with the HS although looking from the side it appeared that they had.
Although I got a very good temperature drop on the CPU, it looks as though that tacky TIM material is there as padding to make up the gap. Looks like it's the Thermalrightfor me next month, in the mean time I have some thick TIMs that I have cut to size from my old X1800XT and am again overclocking the memory without artifacts.
