??Auto insert notification??

I need to know if I can turn off Auto insert notification on the CD Rom, and how. I run Win 2000 pro.

its possible, you need to edit a registry string. i cant find the site where i found that out anymore. someone will soon post the how to.

Don't use 2K myself, but I found this:


2) Enable/Disable "Auto Insert Notification" for all Devices:
- First, you must logon as administrator.

- Go to "Start" > "run" and enter "regedit" in the box. Click ok, then then click on the following sequence: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > SYSTEM > CurrentControlSet > Services > Cdrom > Autorun.

- Doubleclick on it, and set the desired value, "0" for disabled and "1" for enabled. The changes won't apply until you reboot.


Just remeber to backup the registry first... Hope this helps!
