STEAM users can expect an update today and if you are as lucky as me and many others out there it will render your gameplay in a STEAM acct. game totally useless :P

Your CPU will get pinned, your bandwidth will get hijacked, your FPS, audio & gameplay will be choppy and unforgiving. And there isn't anything you can do about it. Seems all the usual STEAM fixes are not working either.

I usually don't B****H but... hooray for STEAM! :mad:

grrr... Lucky!

There are over 9,000 views and 17 pages on just one thread over there so I think it's a bit of an issue for many people.

Someone posted this fix in the Steam forums. I am going to give it a try and see if it works for me.
You guys, I may have figured out this problem.
First off, when you start steam, go IMMEDIATELY to you SERVERS window. You will find that Steam is querying ALL the servers on every online game hosted by steam. Simply stop this query and you should be fine, it worked for me.

I really hope this helps, it stopped my "problem" and I hope it stops yours too.

Edit: Yup the above seems to be working for me... phew. Almost had to go a night without a little HL ;)

Edit 2: After launching your game, you may also have to Alt+Tab out of it back to Steam and Stop querying ALL the servers again. Then go back to your game and all should be fine.

yup mine is messed up too, alot of ppl in clan as well, what i have to do is start steam up, and then shut it down and restart and server list works fine, and then when i join a server i have to wait in it for about 3 minutes for the lagg to stop its bad they better fix it soon.

I remember an update last year wrecking my cs playing for about a wk,been lucky this time though.

My Steam always querys every server out there every time I open it simply because my game filter doesn't stay, I guess I've been dealing with it running slow and laggy this whole time meanwhile not knowing it? lol?

Ya I can't say I ever noticed any major lag before the update. Curious... does yours restart the query after you launch a game too?
