Then you have to get water :p. Just got my watercooling setup done :D .
Swiftech Apex Ultra Kit $219 @ jab-tech + $45 MCW60 + $34 G80 Copper Sink Kit
Remember, I was loading before @ 85C on stock cooler. I made the thread with the heatsink shroud removed with a fan on it to get it down to 69C or so.
I can now clock it up to 650/1000 with more room to go, previous max OC was 610/950 or so.
Max Load temp is 46C with idle at 44C.

Wow, nice. I think my 8800GTS is about 55C-60C or so idle. I don't even want to check what it is on load. Any pics of the setup?

I'm thinking of going w/c for my 8800GTX because of the fact I have no a/c and summers can be brutal, with room temps matching outdoor temps easily. Idling at the desktop on some days my gpu die temp is around 65C, and thats with no overclock. Gaming in these temps it has no problem, but seriously, I dont wanna test just how high it can go.
The only thing that is holding me back, is the cost of a w/c setup for the 8800 cards. Blocks going for $100+ isnt exactly the type of money I wanna spend after spending so much on building this system in the first place, especially since thats *just* for the block.
Not only that, but when it comes to maintanance, I dread having to do any on my pc's. I'm the set it and forget it type when it comes to a pc. Do it right once, and let it be, only with the once or twice a year running with a brush and air can to clean off the accumulated dust. Dunno how maintenance is with a w/c setup, cause I've never read anyone post about maintenance. Daily, weekly, monthly water changes? Just look a the level and top it off when its needed?
I sould look into it some more, but so far, everyones always posting about the $300+ setups that also include a cpu block. I'd like to keep it simple, low cost, and just the gpu, maybe even a prebuilt kit. Any suggestions?
these temps are awesome....congrats:clap:
my 8800gts hits 80C under load easily
it is overclocked too.
when i touch the cooler while under load, it is just burning hot:mad:
but there is no loud noise, so i would say that it is a "good stock" cooler if you know what i mean
