Hi all

does anybody know whether or not the asrock 775dual vsta board will support pci express x16 ?

according to their support site it seems to support the msi nx8800gts is this an x16 card ? this is the link if anybody has time to take a look http://www.asrock.com/mb/vga.asp?Model=775Dual-VSTA&s=n

The problem is i dont really want to upgarde the board right now unless i really have too, the 680i mb would be my next upgarde but they're rather expense at the moment & this board still supports c2d's

So if anybody know the answer to this question it would be most appreciated.

I've got it and it only runs at x8. I only found out a few months ago and was quite annoyed. Its not a great board for OCing either.

hi cheers for letting me know.

So it will actually fit the x16 cards just run at x8 ? - is the xfx an agp ?

Ive also got a 945D but its stuck at 225*17 = 3.8ghz what did u do to get up to 4ghz on stock volts ???

The slot is x16 sized but only runs at x8 so it will take all pci-e x16 cards it'll just run the bus at half the speed, that doesnt mean the card will run at half speed though.

XFX make both AGP and PCI-e cards. Mine is a PCI-e.

My cpu isnt totaly stable at 4.0 i can usualy get it to 3.9 stable and on a good day 4.0 lol. I can get into the BIOS at 4.3!! but then it wont go into windows. Im running stock atm as im waiting for my graphics card to be RMAed.

It could just be your chip that can only go to 3.8 on stock. My voltage does drop under load on this mobo which could be part of your problem. Maybe you could monitor it in cpuz or speedfan...i find cpuz does quite a good job. mine can go as low as 1.185v.
It could be your PSU if it is a cheap one then is might not be able to cope with the cpu....but that is unlukely as your not changing the voltage. It could be the cooling. It would be usefull to have your specs to look at.

Its more than likely as i said erlier, its just your individual chip that needs a bit more juice to get to the next level. I wouldnt worry about it if i were you.

Dont you find it really annoying that you cant change the voltage on this board...grrr...thats why i bought a new one lol.

Hi thanks for that.

My cpu is stable at 3.8 24/7 i dont really see the need to push the voltages for a 200mhz increase - i dont think i'd notice anything!

Do you know whether or not the board will support the intel quad cores ? on the cpu list they don't appear however they have the same socket and fsb etc any knowledge on this ?

If it takes the quad that would be excellent and would mean its worth waiting till the 680i boards come down in price, then i could get a heavy oc cpu and sli going!!!
