Well I'm really liking this HP 24" LCD (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824176059) and it has dual DVI ports on it, as well as 2 DVI-DVI cables. Will running SLI with 2x8800GTS 640MB with each card going to a port on the monitor increase the performance any? The resolution is quite huge (1920x1200) and although I don't play FPS much anymore I'm getting back into WoW and I'd like to play that and the new RTS's (C&C 3, Starcraft 2, Supreme Commander) wit as many fps as I can pull, I cannot stand even the smallest hiccup during gameplay and during those RTS's, expecially Supreme Commander, the amount of units on the screen at once gets pretty large. I know that SLI doesn't support multi-monitor, does this count as a 2 monitor setup even though it's a single monitor with 2 inputs?

I could be wrong, but my guess is that the dual dvi is for 2 different inputs.

Ex: You want to use your monitor as a tv.

You would run the cards SLI'd into one of the DVI ports. They don't 'combine' inside the monitor at all. It's just a second input for another device.

Figured that's how it would work. Looks like I'll just jump up to a 8800GTX instead then..

I think only dual DVI vid cards can suport the higher res eg 1920x1200

dual link dvi ports are needed to support the higher resolutions. The 8800 series cards all have two dual link dvi ports. That is to say 2 different dvi outs that are both dual link.

1920x1200 is supported by single link DVI, but I was wondering if having both DVI imputs on the monitor would improve performance any, but as stated before, it won't :(
