View Full Version : Home Built Gaming PC
This is more of a poll.
I am looking to build a budget gaming system. I would like to hear the specs of your PC. Mainly just so I can get an idea as to what I should get and to do some research on. I have been a Senior PC Technician for 6 years and know quite a bit, though I am new to overclocking.
So let the bragging begin (For a good cause)
Thanks
NINman
My rig is not impressive at all, but it does the job :)
See my specs below... Guess it's pretty cheap now. If you can find old stuff like that CPU and mobo, that is :)

Yeah pysko definately has one bad*** rig. :D
Mines working out pretty well for me still, although a DDR board would do wonders...or even some better pc133 ram....

I have 3 machines...all 933's with anywhere from 256 to 768 megs of memory. All 3 have GF GTS cards 32meg DDR, and live or audigy sound cards. They all run VERY well, and I never see a glitch. All 3 also have DVD players w/o decoder cards......runs smooth as glass.
You don't need a monster to play even the hottest of games.

I have what you see in my sig and it plays all games i have put up against it fairly well....
Heres waht i suggest:
ECS K7S5A, Epox8KHA+, ASUS A7V-266E(50-150$)
Duron900/Athlon1GHZ(50-70$)
Geforce2Ti/Radeon7500(100$)
256 Crucial DDR(50$)
Millenium Glaciator(20$)
Antec Case(100$)
17" CRT Monitor(140$)
that is a very nice system for about 500-650$, should play most gaems for some time....

Definately don't need alot to run the games these day. Being the computer components are so cheap. What's the highest minimum req game out there now? 600 P3/K7 128mb ram 3rd gen vid card, now you want some power...then it's like the guy above posted for about 6large. It's all good. My rig does it's job...reasonably well I might add...

Antec Sx 1240 (might be a lookalike case:mad: )
Soyo k7v Dragon kt266 chipset
Tbird 1.4 @ 1.6 ghz
512 megs pc2100 DDR
Geforce 2 MX 400
30 gig maxtor hd
16x dvd rom
350 watt enhance psu
hey it will pump out the FPS in RTCW!!
I'm looking at canadian prices so I'll try my best to make them USD.
I'd recommend:
AMD Athlon XP 1600+ about 90-100USD
Asus A7V266 DDR - 115 USD
256 DDR PC2100 - Cheap OFC
Visiontek Xctasy Ti200 or Radeon 7500 - 100USD
Glaciator II - 20USD
Antec SX830 Tower w/ 300W PS - 70USD
Total adds up to about 450 USD and some tax thats a real good bargain if you ask me.

Main rig in my signature, no game can make it sweat. :)
Thanks for all the replys and keep them coming. So far I like what I see. Done a little reseach on the cases and I like the Antec's. Thanks a lot. Once I rebuild I will have 3 PC's and one I will setup for SETI@Home which I have been running on my work PC. Anyone else out there with a KICK A$$ Gaming Machine? Lets see them!!!!!!

I have what you see in my Sig, the only thing I'll be changing is the the MoBo and video card and ram. I'll be putting in a new SoYo Dragon Plus, a Xtasy 5564 64m.b., and a 256m.b. DDR from Crucial. The ram and the video card I already have it was in another rig. So far I have yet to see a game I can't play.
The problem with PsYcho's rig is he is RAM happy. 512 MB is max anyone would need except a CAD person.

check eeet out! belew
It's all in the sig:beer: If there was just one thing I were allowed to change then it would be the video card to something that'll allow me to play games with a resolution of at least 1280 X 1024 & not slow down:beer:
