View Full Version : I need help with my burner
I have a TDK 16x10x40 and the little one was playing games earlier and switching them around. I go out and get pizza and come back to a cd rom that the tray automatically opens and stays there. you can close it and it will stay closed for about 5 seconds and then it opens up again on its own. Someone please help.
Got a few suggestions:
1) Interrogate the little one :D
2) Check to see what background programs are running. Maybe something keeps giving an eject command.
Hmm.. What did he do exactly with the burner?
What happens from the moment you press the power buttonm does it open in 5 seconds because obviously booting into windows takes about 30 secs.
You'll need to know what exactly the little one did. :)
We did the interogation and of course she didnt do anything (you know how it is). Then I shut down all the programs running in the background and it stil opens automatically after you close it. I used a program called Go Back and reverted the hard drive back to the beginning of yesterday before the problem. It still has the problem. I think it might be a hardware problem. Any other suggestions would be appreciated. I am going to buy another cd rom and gtr that and run the burner in slave and see if that fixes the problem. If not we will soon find ut how good TDK customer service is.
Brain flash.
You know that itsy bitsy little hole that you can use to eject the cd (not the eject button :D ). Check to see if your little one has stuck something in it. Also, take the frontplate off and see if the eject button is stuck.
I figured it out. Was doing a close visual and saw the tray was just ever so slightly cocked and when it closed it wasnt seating all the way so it would kick it back open. You had to have your nose right in there to see that. Thanks to all for the help.
