View Full Version : F.E.A.R. Keeps freezing.

No problems with any other games... Oblivion works fine, the World in Conflict Beta works fine... But sometimes, during a death scene, F.E.A.R. will lockup on the red screen. I already have the latest patch, (1.08) so I don't know what the problem could be.

Just upgraded to my 8800GTS 640... so it seems to be running smooth, but...

Does the entire machine lockup or is it just FEAR? Its possible a file corrupted, I never had this issue when playing it..

Well I can't get back to the desktop if that's what you mean.

Well yeah, but more importantly, does the sound freeze? Can you move your mouse? etc?

I can move my mouse. And there is no sound because it's inbetween the part where you're just killed and it switches to the screen where you click to continue. It freezes when the screen turns red.

EDIT: No. Computer doesn't freeze. I was able to get back to the desktop after a few tries.

This guy's having the exact same problem I am. Right at the continue screen, and ONLY at the continue screen. What the hell could it be?

You have onboard sound? Try updating your sound drivers. Realtek released a new one not long ago. Seems to help with freezing issues for some.

i had issues on the NF4 mobos with realtek sound drivers and fear, that may be it.

I remember that happening once in a while but not lately. I don't remember changing anything to fix it so it could just be some kid messing with the server because he's mad about losing and having two dads.
